Worried I have ovarian cancer

Hi all. I am sorry to post but I am such a worried and cannot get this feeling out of my head. I am coming to the end of my period but for the last 4 days I have had a dull ache in my back and also feels like abdominal swelling and a pressure type feeling in my pelvis. I am 48 years of age. I know I have fibroids and have always had heavy periods because of this. They are getting lighter now because of my age. I'm just worried about these symptoms. Do you think I should see my GP now or wait to see if symptoms improve.

Thank you all

Melanie

  • Hello, All being well this will be nothing to worry about but don't leave it in case it's a simple urine infection, now that can be very painful! Your doctor will e able to put your mind at rest with some simple tests....good luck and post back? Xxx

  • Thank you Marlyn. I don't have any issues with urinating so I don't think it is a water infection. I think I will monitor things over the weekend and if symptoms persist I will ring my GP. I am such a worrier that I talk myself into feeling symptoms but I also don't want to ignore things.

    Thank you

  • Hi

I had tummy pains in July put down to IBS, had more tests scans done yesterday and found two cysts. I am waiting for results. All I would say is you know your body, if not right go get advice. Push for tests, my GP stated “what do you want me to do about it” so helpful. Get tests and scans. My consultant is the one that investigated more.

Try not to worry, not ease I know. I just think if you had tests there is nothing you can do until the results. But better safe than sorry.

  • Hi. So i reported my symptoms to my GP. I had the CA125 test and awaiting results. Still having symptoms. My inflammatory markets were normal but I don't know if that's a good thing as it means no inflammation so could be something serious? I have an appointment with GP on Monday so will wait till then to get result.

    Fingers crossed though.

    Thank you

  • Hi. Sorry I've taken so long to post back here. So my ca125 test was normal. My GP referred me for a scan anyway and I had the results to say all is normal. Symptoms disappeared too ‍♀️. Thank you for your lovely message though.
