Blood/mucus stool

Hi

For tge past 8 months ive had blood and mucus in stools, i went to the docs and they said IBS, tge symptoms persisted so i went back, they took blood tests which were all normal, a stool test which said i had high calproctin levels (1200) so gp said i had suspected IBD, i have a colonoscopy appt in 2 weeks. Obviously no one can diagnose other than the docs after colonoscopy but im freaking out and expecting the worst! Has anyone else had anything similar? I have absolutely so other symptoms just mucus at rhe top of stool (first bit to come out) then blood on the outside sometimes quite a bit sometimes barely any and thats it but it has been every stool apart from maybe 5 in total for the last 8 months! Maybe a slight niggle in left lower side of stomach occasionally right but nothing major at all.

No family history, no weight loss, no tiredness, bowel habbits normal, no pain, no other symptoms, just an increase in anxiety!

Thanks for reading

  • Hi, I totally understand how you feel I am really not looking forward to going to the hospital either for my procedure as I am worried about Covid and also both my auntie and uncle caught Covid in hospital and died through that complication they were very ill but that didn't help, so I know your concern.  How are you doing? I am waiting for a colonoscopy and it seems like you wait forever.

BTW you can message me anytime, you are not bothering me, we are all welcoming here :)

Just a random question has anyone experienced a constipated floating stool?

    All the best,

    Jem

  • Update I got my Colonoscopy on the 3rd March and I am freaking out abit, what if the result is wrong and I got through the procedure for nothing?

  • Hi,

im so sorry for your loss. I was in lockdown in USA visiting my kids and couldn't get back at all. It's heart breaking so I know how you feel.

I panicked because they rushed my colonoscopy on a fast track thing. They found the polyps and want me to remove it next time using a smaller flexible scope.

ive never experienced a floating stool.
    Thank you for answering.
this group is amazing and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

  • I have been reading about how unbelievably painful colonoscopies are and I am very anxious about going to my appointment on the 3rd March!

I hope you can settle my mind on this?

  • Sorry I'm late replying.
my colonoscopy was a little uncomfortable but ok. The nurse was with me all the time offering support ,talking to me helping me turn over when asked. She spoke to me throughout telling me we were almost done, we were finished and it was over. Throughout she said if you feel windy just pass it because the more you don't the more you will be uncomfortable afterwards.
befor it begins they explain everything to you and they put a cannula in your right hand. I had anesetic to make me a little drowsy and it helps. They are in full masks and stuff so don't be scared and you get to keep your mask on too. That reassured me. You don't feel the camera at all but you feel a little uncomfortable as it moves around but it is bearable. Once it's over you are taken to a room to recover and given tea and a sandwich

i am your worst patient but I was fine. You feel a little gassy and want to rest.
please take someone with you to bring you home and look after you throughout the night. There isn't a problem but they like you to be with someone.
please tell me how you go. I don't know how I can give you my email but you and kna are welcome to email. Good luck and stay strong. Always here to chat x

  • Thank you for your reply :)

You can message me through my profile and we can correspond there.

I was freaking out a bit as I heard some horror stories about colonoscopies and I am very sensitive to start off with!

I will let you know how it goes through PM if you would like.

Are you still waiting for results?

    All the best,

    Jem x

  • That's ok don't worry. Have a great time with your mum. Give her our love xx

  • Hi @disneyqueen,how are you doing today?
Im so sorry to read that other people have been getting you down. Did you decide to go ahead with the procedure to get the polyps removed? I know you were not sure what to do what with covid being a risk.

I really hope ur not feeling too low. I saw you said it's coming up to your dad's anniversary too, that's hard.

    I'm always here xx

  • Thank you so much for replying. The procedure is on Tuesday . I had my covid vaccine last night. Not sure if I should get the procedure done. I had a covid test done today which was required before you have a procedure. I'm worried and unsure what to do.

yes my dads memorial comes up next month and it was on my sons birthday too. It will be tough
