I am pretty new here but I think you haven't read the following rule in Terms and conditions:

Do not upload images of a graphic, initimate or personal nature, or for the purposes of diagnosis. We cannot diagnose you or give a medical opinion via the forum.

So you should remove the pic. We are not doctors and can't diagnose what you have. Keep to the proffesional that assist you and you'll find the right answers.

hi I literally just joined within the last 15mins and I hadn’t read the term and conditions of posting. I seen others posting images of same condition and thought it’s what you did. Sorry for offending you and I would never have asked for a diagnosis at all. Just looking for some common ground.

Hi Michele. Welcome to the forum.

I'm not a doctor but this is one question that comes up repeatedly. 

Spots and marks under the nail are common, but subungual melanama is pretty rare so that odds are that this is nothing to worry about. However, identifying a mark under the nail can be difficult, even for a doctor, so you shouldn't be alarmed that you've been referred to a specialist.  The specialist might be able identify it at once, but quite often they want a biopsy anyway. So again, don't be alarmed if this is what happens.

However, I don't think the 8 week wait on the emergency list is acceptable. I suggest you return to your GP and ask whether you can be referred to a hospital with a shorter waiting list. 

No offense at all! I just wanted to tell you because I read we are not allowed to. Going back to your concern, I think you should stay calm because odds play in your favor. Subungual melanoma is a rare condition and has a really good prognosis when detected early, so in case it is (which may not) you're on track! 

If you are still worried about those 8 weeks, try to call them in a few days and see if it can be changed.

The wait is awful, I know, so try to have your head busy during this time as much as you can.

I agree that an 8 week wait is unacceptable. I'm assuming your local hospital isn't very large & isn't a centre of excellence for melanoma (just in case it comes back positive). What part of the country do you live in Michelle?

hi angie I hope you don’t mind but I added you as a friend as I would love to talk you about this. I rung the hospital and was told that everyone is in the same boat, I also rung my doc and she said that I would just have to wait. I’ve had it 3 months now and 8 weeks will be an anxious wait. I’m in Northern Ireland.
