I'm 29 with 4 kids and recently stopped the cerazette pill after little short of a month on it. I was on the copper coil from August 18 until June this and was taken off due to it not agreeing with me. Last week after intercourse I bled the next day for about 3 days. Was dark and minimal. Only really there when I wiped. Was sore so guessing I was wet enough (sorry tmi) then again last Thursday I had intercourse and (again sorry tmi) was a little rough. I bled again the next day this time was red like a period and now still bleeding but changed to dark again not heavy mainly there when wiping. I spoke to my gp on Friday morning who said she wasn't concerned as I suddenly stopped the cerazette so will probably have a lot of hormones going up and dropping & if I'm still bleeding in 4/6 weeks to contact her again for an appointment to check my cervix. Iv suddenly started to experience extreme anxiety over the past few weeks & this has definatly sent me over the edge. I'm a tearful mess & im now petrified of having sex. The dr sounded nice and not concerned as all my smears are upto date and all

normal & Iv been in a relationship for 13 years. I wish I never started the pill! 

Hi, so mine was fairly similar and i am continuiing on it and it has calmed down so will see how it goes for the next few weeks.. The coil - having researched is not going to be for me as I am super reactive to things and the side effects of the coil are not something I am willing to test so it is literally cerazette or nothing it seems which is slightly sad!  I think MANY people react to cerazette which I wish they would tell you before they prescribe and the bleeding super normal from what I am now finding out but super frustrating and hoping that as time goes on my body will find a way to deal with it..

The copper coil was awful! Was told I'd be ok as it contains no hormones... I fell pregnant on the pill twice the mirena twice so copper coil was my last option before a tubal. I'm now on the waiting list. Iv read the irregular bleeding from starting and stopping the cerazette is normal and my gp told be that Friday morning. The thing that's freaky me out the most is that it's happened twice now after sex which again the dr said is normal but my mind can't settle. Now I'm petrified of having intercourse in case it continues 

From what I read about the copper coil and side effects I am not risking it! I found it was more noticeable after sex maybe due to it 'moving' what was inside out if you know what I mean but please dont be petrified I think its just the rollercoaster of starting up and I have made sure my partner and I are having VERY open conversations about it (new relationship) as I was so paranoid and worried but it has totally settled down - about to finish the first pack and will start the second one in 3 days - doing back to back so can keep you posted on the bleeding? The joys of being a woman hey! x

ive been in cerezzette for about 9 years. Get the odd period maybe once a year.

im 43 and got a period about 2 weeks ago that for me was a really heavy flow with clots for one day then slowed down. Then it stopped for 2 days and now I've just been spotting and only seems red first thing then as day goes on it gets less and less as I wipe. I'm thinking hormone imbalance but after reading your post it could be a mix of hormones and the pill. I've been thinking about stopping altogether to see what happens.

but have you ever had just a very small bleeed first thing and then onlybwhen you go to the toilet and wipe? I'm on day 5 of spotting now.

i did speak with gp who wasn't overly worried.

just after reassurance please. I am wondering if I'm going through peri menopause has I've had some symptoms.

I'm going through the same thing as you at the moment and I'm pretty sure it started the same time as you..

Small bleed at first, then mid to heavy for 5 days with clots. Stopped and started again with light bleeding and now I've been spotting in the mornings for the past 7 days. Its been old blood until this morning, this mornings was fresh. 

I also had some horrible cramping for all the days it was heavy and for 3 days before.

Doctors don't seem worried. The nurse I spoke to just said it happens sometimes and she is on the same pill. 

They want to give me a cervical screening as im due one , but I cant whilst I'm still bleeding?!?! Why can they not do it whilst I'm bleeding?

Anyway I've been on this pill for 15 years. I've had small breakthrough bleeds in the past and more so this year, but covid 19 plays a big part in stress! I had a normal 7 day period at the beginning of lockdown. 

I tried the injection once but the weight gain and bleeding was terrible and they said I had to stay on it a minimum of a year. 

Id say if you have more pros than cons with this pill then just stick to it. Im hoping that leaving mine alone to do its thing will sort it out. I find I keep checking if I'm bleeding during the day out of anxiety and I may be upsetting it and making it worse .

my period arrived on the 30th July, like I said one day of heavy flow and pain then bled for just over a week.

i did call the doctor who was not overly worried at all, could be drop in hormones or it could be the pill. 
I did start to get excited when I saw nothing for about 2 days, and then it came back.

its so light, I could wear one pad all day, it's literally as I go to the toilet.

im hoping it will stop soon, but it's nice to know I'm not alone, I'm the same as you constantly checking throughout the day.

i do wonder if I stop the pill if the bleeding could be worse.

Yes i am exactly the same! Sometimes I even get nothing during the day when I go to the toilet (nothing when I wipe) the mornings seem to be the trigger.

When this happened before I decided to change my pill from PM to AM (which meant double dosing) and it seemed to stop it. I was thinking maybe alcohol stopped it working so well and I was having a glass of wine before bed at the weekends... 

This time I remember missing a pill 6 weeks ago and taking it 6 hours late. Have you missed any or taken it late recently? Normally I don't get an issue if I'm late with one. 

Fingers crossed this is the end of it for the both of us!

i don't think I've missed one, but I remember a few weeks ago saying to myself if I had taken it or not.

so are still double dosing? I'm really interested in trying this.

are you getting cramps as well? This has only just started for me.

i had all of this in December just started out of the blue painful cramps fairly heavy then stoped and was just there again when I wiped, but this is the longest it's gone on for.

i was finding drinking alcohol seemed to make it worse, so haven't had a drink since it all started. I don't drink much as I have a gall stone so I'm restricted in what alcohol I can drink.

hope it does stop, it's just annoying more than anything.
