Bleeding

I wonder if anyone could give me advise. I’m on cerrazette contraceptive pill, you take it every day and don’t have periods. I have been in it for 12 years. In 2011 I had a bleed which lasted a week I went to doctors they examined me and said everything looked fine and it was probable a breakthrough bleed. It stopped and didn’t happen again till 2014 same thing one week then stopped. Anyway I’ve started again it’s not heavy not enough to get onto a towel and only when I go toilet and wipe (sorry this is gross char) but I’ve had some lots??? Not having a period for such along time I don’t know if this is normal? My smears are up to date and am not due one till next year. I’m in no pain. Any advice would be welcome I’ve told myself I will go doctors Monday coming if it hasn’t stopped but you can’t stop the worrying

  • Hi, I was having a google and see this post, I wanted to reply to you, I hope that's ok?

i to was on the same pill, I was started on it because of irregular bleeding, normal smear but HPV positive. Since November 2019 I have been bleeding on and off, heavy periods, and wiping blood constantly. It started off a few days then it went to weeks. Doctor changed my pill to another mini pill, in hope it would calm the bleeding and examined me. I bled for 8 days heavily after examination, dr has refered my on. After my smear I bled for 11 days, heavily. Since the 9th may 2020 till today 3rd June I have been bleeding, it's constant, mainly when I wipe, some times on my pad. I am exhausted, dr has finally taken bloods today just to see if I am anemic.
I have back pain, my tummy is extended and I have pain in my pelvic area, my right hip and leg hurt some days. I don't really know what to make of it all.

  • Hi sorry to hear your having all theses problems. But you e done the best thing seeing your GP. I'm sure if he can't get to the bottom of it he will refer you. So many things can cause the bleeding hormones etc so just go with what doctor says and hopefully won't be long before you find out what's going on xxx

  • Thank you for replying, I am sure its nothing sinister and can be resolved,  once I am able to see a gynaecologist.

    thanks again

  • I am 45 and have been on Cerazette for just over a month now first time in ife. I'm bleeding for most of the month so my GP ordered blood tests and is sending me for ultrasound. Bleeding is heavier, like a long period and it's constant.
i'm sure its because of this pill and I also have a bloated tummy with lower abdominal dull pain.

anyone experienced this so soon after taking this pill? I can't believe it's anything else but dreading the results

  • Hi Iv just come across this forum. Iv been taking Cerazette for about 3-4 months and from the start I started experiencing bleeding not a lot just a normal period. Today my period (if that's what it is!) is ridiculously heavy, Im changing my pad every 15 mins. Im also experiencing clots of blood. I have no pain what's so ever. I actually feel great. I have the doctor ringing me tomorrow morning to discuss but has anybody else experience this and what was your out come. I'm trying not to worry but with the amount of blood there is its quite difficult.

  • I've been on this cerelle pill for a year maybe longer

first few months were okay light periods that lasted about 5 days some random spotting

now I've had a period that's lasted for a month maybe longer

had a scan they said everything looks fine with my ovaries

debating to change to the implant or just give up

ive been sleeping allll day so tired no motivation to do anything

  • Hi I've recently come across this thread and I'm having similar problems. I'm only 20 yet I've been on desogestrel (mini pill) for over a year now.

I swapped from the combined pill due to having thrush infections and dryness which was caused by the oestrogen.

when I began taking this pill I got told I would have no periods. Yet I constantly get periods and bleeding. Mainly spotting for over 1 month at a time. I'm unsure what to do and if to contact my doctor or just leave it ? Any ideas

  • I have just started cerazette 10 days ago and started bleeding today when I wiped which completely through me - been on the combined pill for many years and absolutely no issues like this at all so thinking its maybe the body getting used to the new pill as its not even been a month but it does worry me reading how many people are having breakthrough bleeding on this as I am in a newish relationship and this is far from ideal! Should I tell the doctor at this stage or keep going for a little while longer and see if it settles?

  • Hi! I thought I would reply as started Desogestrel yesterday and I am worried about the irregular bleeding! I am also in a brand new relationship so as you say, far from ideal!! I had terrible bleeding on the combined pill microgynon, I was on it for about ten years (I'm now 33) and then I started bleeding lots and heavy periods and clots which is why I have been prescribed the mini pill. The Dr said it should stop any periods or bleeding so I am really hoping that's the case! Bit worried about being in bed with my new guy and random bleeding starting??

  • Hey there! I spoke to the doc yesterday and she said despite the risks (I am 42) I can if I want to go back on the combined pill - I was on mercilon and literally had zero problems throughout. I am on day 4 of bleeding and its not nice right now so not ideal at all but giving it another few days then may stop it. She did say it will take at least a couple of months for the body to adapt and I am bleeding at the same time I would normally have a period which she said was quite usual at the very early stages as its been less then 2 weeks on it i worked out.. Fingers crossed it works for you but I think it could be a bumpy first 3 months from the Docs words! x
