Breast lump and armpit lump- terrified! Please help!

I have 2 lumps in my breast. I got one biopsied and that was fibroadenoma. I didn’t get the other one biopsied. The other one is located the the bottom part of my breast. A week ago I noticed a lump in my armpit on that same side. It’s oval shaped, and it moves pretty easily, and doesn’t hurt. I was freaking out. A week goes by and now I feel multiple tiny lumps under my armpit. I’m terrified that these are my lymph nodes. I’m not sick, I don’t have an infection, so I’m terrified. Everything I see online leads to breast cancer. I’m only 19 years old but everything I see and hear about when it involves a breast lump and swollen lymph nodes is bad news. I haven’t heard any hopeful good news and I can’t stop crying. I have an appointment to see my breast surgeon on Tuesday.

  • Hi Hun xx

Glad you’ve got an appointment. Most lumps found are benign and so it’s more likely that this will be the case for you xx

Just wanted to let you know that I have had lots of issues with my boobs including lumps, armpit pain, once had a lump under armpit - again, disappeared not long after, pulling feelings in my boob, tenderness, lumpy and sore boobs. These were all relating to benign conditions and have been resolved xx

    Hi,

I just want to wish you all the best for your visit to your breast surgeon on Tuesday and hope that you get the same result as Starcatone.

I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 8 years and. have to say that if the worst comes to the worst, surgery and treatment is doable these days.

Hopefully at your age, there is nothing untoward.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Just wanted to update:

i saw my breast surgeon and she felt “fullness” in my armpit. The lump under my arm is deep in my arm so you really have to feel around to feel it. She briefly felt around my armpit but not enough to the point where she found the lump. She did an ultrasound and she said that I have breast tissue that goes up to my armpit. She said she didn’t see a tumor or anything concerning on the ultrasound, she said it’s just breast tissue that I’m feeling. Part of me is relieved but I’m also confused because she didn’t even feel my lump. And it definitely is round and pretty hard, I don’t think that’s what breast tissue feels like? But then again, she did an ultrasound and I’m sure something would’ve shown up if it was bad.

    Hi,

This is great news, even though you don't sound convinced. I agree with you that I would have felt happier if your consultant had found the lump, but it should have shown up on your ultrasound too.

I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer and know how lumps can disappear when you are trying to find them. Soap yourself well in your armpit and on your hand when you are in the shower, then see if you can still feel it. If you can, it might be worth seeing your GP for reassurance, as s/he will have a full report on your ultrasound from your consultant.

If your GP can put your mind at rest, that would be great. However, don't forget to check yourself monthly and, if you find any further changes, get them checked out immediately.

In the meantime, you are free to go away and enjoy life. Live it to the full and make the most of every day. You are one of the lucky ones and, sadly not that many are in that position.

    I'm absolutely delighted for you!
    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • I have this exact problem right now I have a massive lump on the side of my left breast that really sticks out I went to the doctors and 3 nurses came to see me,when they felt it they said I needed to go to the hospital to the breast department for a scan ...

I went to the breast department and the woman said it's down to a hormonal change but she did not feel the lump that I told her to feel...she did not even do a scan to see if it was definitely that

now I have another lump just up above where my big lump is and it's literally right under the armpit but mine is really in pain and when I touch it, it's making a crunching noise as if I have popped something I'm unable sleep due to this, now my doctors are saying they have no appointments to get me in been waiting 3 weeks now and the pain is spreading into my chest and down my left arm x

    Hi Vickyjade,

It is never satisfactory when you are sent to the breast clinic and don't have any tests done. The chances are that the doctor you saw is quite right and the changes you've noted are down to hormonal changes. However, you would be more convinced that all was clear if you'd had an ultrasound to check things out.

You know your own body best and, sometimes you have to be quite persistant to get the checks that you're entitled to. Have you explained the nature of your problem to your GPs receptionist? They will usually try to fit you in to an emergency appointment if you do. Most clinics keep a certain number of emergency appointments each day. They usually release them early on the actual day. It might be worth asking if your clinic does something similar and, if so, ask what time you need to phone for these.

I do hope that you get this sorted soon. Please let us know how you get on.

We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

  • I'm in a similar situation right now, waiting for my referral and equally terrfied! What was the outcome for you? Hope everything was ok. Were your breast lumps firm and oval shape?

  •

    Hi SallyNew,

I am so sorry to hear that you are in the same situation as Vickyjade. I do hope that your referral comes through soon and, that the subsequent tests don’t show up anything untoward.

Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

  • Thank you so much, so kind of you. I will let you know - the waiting over the weekend has been horrendous so going to chase up my appointment in the morning x

  •

    Hi SallyNew,

How long have you been waiting for your referral? It normally comes through within a two week time frame. Weekends are always difficult to get through, but there is always someone here to talk to.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
