Possible Lymphoma?

Hello there,

ill get straight to the story. I noticed a lump in my neck around April time so booked myself to see my GP. They said it was probably from a infection and gave me Amoxicillin - the antibiotics did nothing to clear the lump. I’ve visited three times since and they still continue to fob me off saying it’s just an infection which will take time to go.

I went last week complaining of headache, ringing in one here (left side the side of the lump), dizziness and feeling aches and what not in my neck and lower back. She felt the neck lump, armpits and groin and only found the one lump in my neck and told me to see her again in a MONTH. I’ve had no scans done, no blood tests, nothing other than antibiotics months ago.

The ringing in my ear doesn’t stop, the aches come and go throughout the day and I am now getting sharp pain in my chest as well as stomach pains, often feeling constipated.

Any ideas on what I should do? Should I go to my go for a 5th and demand a biopsy etc to determine what’s causing this lump to stick around? The headache and ear ringing 24 hours a day is really getting me down and the doctors don’t seem interested in the slightest.

Are ringing ears the symptoms of lymphoma? I’ve searched and searched and can’t see anything of it being related. Sorry for the long post, after six months of being robbed off I’d thought I’d join on here and get some advice from people who know a wee bit more than my gp...shouldn’t be too difficult.

many thanks

  • Hi there,

I didn't see any update on your diagnosis, I hope you got the all clear?

I am currently experiencing exactly what you had; tinnitus in the right ear and swollen lymph nodes. Mine have only been swollen for 3 weeks but the swelling keeps changing. I currently have an ear infection and a totally blocked left ear. I have also felt some swelling my groin glands, which I am going to have checked today. Sometimes I am not sure if I'm being a hypochondriac!

I am a teacher so I can't currently teach as I can't hear a thing. Students these days aren't so caring either. My cattarah is green but I don't know if I can have an infection and still be more seriously unwell. My face and jaw are in pain. I saw an out of hours GP to have my bloods taken, which I have done but came back 'normal' even though I know that doesn't indicate something more sinister.

I just saw your post and wanted to know if you were okay in the end. x

  • Hi I am 20 and have recently found lump in my neck gp says give it time I had pains in my chest too he shrugged this off but my gut tells me this is serious what can I do.

  • HI IM ALSO 20. i recently found a small lump in my neck. but its not noticebale.  it could be lymphoma as its a swollen lymph node i think. I also lost some weight without exercising although i have been dieting for a month. My symptoms started a week ago with a slight pain in the neck behind the head which developed into a tension headache. The headache lasted for a week. then after i noticed a small lump which is bit tender and painful to touch. The headache is somewhat gone. Gong for a blood test tomorrow. Did you have similar symptoms?

  • Hi how did your scans go? Any update? I hope you're well!

  • I saw my GP about a month ago, as have been getting tinnitus in my left ear, headache behind that ear and feeling dizzy. She immediately referred me to ENT, as said unilateral tinnitus is not normal and should always be investigated. Unfortunately I've had a letter from ENT saying they will be back in touch when they can offer me an appointment, so I know the wait is very long. I've made an appointment to set a consultant  privately. My GP said I need a scan, but need ENT to decide exactly what scan. I'm also having problems with high BP and pulse which is proving resistant to medications.

Since making the private appointment I have now found a large lump in my left breast, so have an urgent appointment at the breast clinic next week. So am obviously panicking now that the head symptoms are related to this lump.

Hope your tinnitus is being investigated now. Mine is getting louder every day, and the dizziness is awful. If it gets much worse I'll be going to a+e, as my ENT appt is still 2 weeks away.

     Since
