Lump left neck supraclavicular area

This is my first post here and needless to say I'm pretty scared. I'm 40 yrs old and a mum to 3 little delights. I found a lump in my collarbone area on the left and sought my doctors advice. He immediately referred me to ENT who put the camera through my nose and found nothing there. He has booked me in for a CT scan in 2 days time and says I will need a biopsy as he could feel a hard lump. I am on a rollercoaster of emotions as you can imagine. My doc did give me antibiotics which made me feel ill tbh and I feel a lot better after finishing them. Anyone else in this awful situation? I could do with someone to talk to about this as I desperately try to hide it from the little people in the house so as not to scare them just yet! Anxiety levels are through the roof!!!!!

  • Hi,

I'm pleased to hear you're feeling a little calmer about this process you are going through. I understand the questioning of any ache or pain but I hope the exercise is going well. It can be such a great benefit both physically and mentally and could be such a good distraction from your worries just now.

I look forward to hearing how things are going for you. Stay positive and best wishes. Always here xx

  • Hi,

I'm in a similar position, two weeks ago i noticed a lump right near my right collarbone, it's quite big and doesn't move, it doesn't hurt to touch but makes my neck ache sometimes. I feel completely fine in myself.

I've had a blood test which was normal, a chest xray and CT scan (CT scan of chest and abdomen). Boths scans showed inflamed lymph nodes in my lungs but nothing else in my body.

I've got an appointment tomorrow with the ENT specialists to get a biopsy booked in.

    The wait seems ages!

I hope everything goes OK for you

  • Hi

yes it's a waiting game and it's sometimes hard to not worry.

i try to keep myself busy - reading and talking to friends.

ive only started with the investigation - booked in to see the ENT specialist.

Not sure if they will do a scan and biopsy at the same appointment. It doesn't look like it so could be weeks before I find out.

  • Hi All, Just thought I'd post an update.

After several private and NHS ENT appointments, an ultrasound scan and several checkups my daughter has been given the all-clear, with the specialist suggesting that the swollen lymph node in her heck will continue to decrease in size over time. This was a mega stressful time but I hope this result offers someone else looking at this forum some reassurance.

The painless swelling in her neck was large for about 5-6 weeks before showing any signs of getting smaller, it was still palpable during her ultrasound but the doctor said that this was normal and it may never shrink down to its original size but should become more or less unnoticeable over the next few months.

  • Glasgow Dad,

This is just fabulous news. I am so very pleased to hear your update. These reactive nodes give us all a big scare and a time of turmoil. That said, it sounds like you now have peace of mind and that you can relax and return to living life to the max.

    Best wishes to you both!

  • Hi there, I’ve just had an appointment with the ENT  he said to me my lump looks very sinister and fast tracking me for a CT scan, I’m trying to be positive but it’s a worrying time. Hoping everyone going through this as plenty of support.

  • Hi, I've had a CT scan which came back clear but inflamed lymph nodes in my lungs. I had my appointment today with the ENT who took a biopsy and looked down my throat with a camera.

He said he suspects Lymphoma but wont know until the biopsy results come back in 2 weeks.

Try to stay postive, I know its hard though the wait feels like forever finding out! x

  • It’s going to be along few weeks for all. It’s difficult trying to be normal and cheery round my kids.

    Stay strong xx

  • I got the results back on friday from my biopsy, unfortunately it turned out to be Hodgkins Lymphoma. Unsure on the stage yet just on the waiting list for a PET scan to find out.

Have you found out anything else/had your CT scan yet? x

  • Hi [@AR0693]‍ ,

I am so sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis! I hope you are doing well especially with the crazy world we are in now! I hate to intrude but was wondering if you would be okay to let me know if your chest X-ray showed inflamed lymph nodes or just the CT?

ive had some issues since December that's becoming difficult for my mental health to let go especially with the current climate going on! My nodes are in the neck, collarbone, and armpits. I've had two scans of neck/collarbone and then my armpit separately - armpit is biggest one about a cm length wise maybe slightly over but the radiologist said she wasn't worried it's because I shave my armpits and it's slightly long.. the collar bone one is about 4mm but right under my skin it's moveable and if I prod it it aches. And my neck had a load of "reactive nodes" that I can feel ranging in size but none bigger than a cm so no evidence of lymphadenopathy. This would have reassured me if

    - there were not such a variety of places in my body with lumps

    - they had gone away (started December when I noticed)

    - coronavirus wasn't in the picture

    - I have a blister looking thing on my tonsil with a negative swab and bloods saying no infection

i have a 17 month old toddler I try to be strong for but I'm struggling. My bloods, ultrasound and chest X-ray are okay but how can this be normal !? My doctor said it's because I'm skinny .. I'm a 12 I'm average and I can't be skinny on one side of my body! My son breastfeeds and I'm worried this can be an issue for him too! But doctors assure me it's not and I'm just lost at what to do especially now my fiancé works for the emergency services in London and is in and out the house!!

sorry for my life story just lost at what to do! X
