Raised ca125 and symptoms

Hi Eveyone.

i am new to the forum. Just looking for some other stories similar to mine really. I went to the doctor after noticing pain in my lower tummy for quite some time along with regular bloating. I had blood tests done and results came back same day with a raised ca125 of 38 and elevated ESR levels. I am aware the cut off is 35 so 38 doesn’t strike me as drastic but along with other symptoms I am quite worried. The past few days my tummy pains have since carried over to my lower back and I feel constantly nauseous (near enough on the verge of throwing up but never do) however I’m not sure if this is a symptom or from nerves. I have an appointment with gynaecologist for scan 20/08/18.

  • Hi All, I had an elevated level in July 2018 of 50 and had all the relevant scans to be told everything is normal. Yesterday I received my latest result and the CA125 is now at 71. Now being referred for further scans and feeling anxious. Has anyone experienced this and still come away with normal results?

  • Hi all

I am really concerned as during a routine MRI for unrelated issue in aug  last year (2018)a cyst was found on my left ovary bearing in mind I have no womb having had a hysterectomy for endometriosis kept my ovaries as I was 27 I am now 36. But for the last year I have felt rotten at the time I had a ca125 done which was 35 and just told it would go away however my symptoms have just gotten worse and worse bloating tired all the time can't eat sick and constipated I keep getting told that it's ibs I have finally gotten the doctors to listen and repeat bloods and they have booked a scan but really concerned about results due to symptoms can anyone give me advice thanks x

  • Hi angela1987

my story is a little like yours, my first blood test of ca-125 was 67 which I paid and got a scan and it was normal, they repeated the bloods and now it's 77. They had referred me to gynaecology, I'm just wondering how you got on? X

  • Hi,

For me, thankfully, I’m absolutely fine. They don’t know the reasons why mine increases or why I have elevated levels- apparently some people just do. I don’t have endometriosis and there’s no cysts on my ovaries. The gynae consultant recommended I go on the pill and started me on one called rigevedon (i think that’s how you spell it). It didn’t agree with me so I’m now on lucette and it’s jinestly helped a lot of problems I was having. Weirdly they told me there’s no need to have further blood tests to check my levels in the future. I hope all is okay for you. Best wishes to you x

  • Hi how did you get on with all your tests? My CA125 was 91 and I was sent for pelvic ultrasound and they couldn't find anything wrong so I am waiting 6 weeks for repeat CA125 blood tests to see if my levels are up or down? Even though I've had a scan I'm still worried too.

  • Hi there

im worried sick about my ca125 being 67 and just wondered how you got on? Did you have other symptoms too? Hope you're very well and thanks x

  • Hi.

I had similar. Feeling exhausted and very heavy periods, CA125 was 126.7. Went for ultrasound scan and internal scan. Nothing seen although was told they couldn't find one of my ovaries even after a 3rd scan ‍♀️ Ca125 now down to 47. Have been told to just monitor it but would rather investigate then just wait and see. Still feeling exhausted all the time but not sure if it's all in my mind now. I do feel like it's a ticking time bomb and with covid there is a reluctance to investigate.

  • Hi there,

I've just been reading this chat as I have recently been having tests done in the gynaecology clinic, I had my ca125 blood test done 2 weeks ago and it came back raised at 211 with normal being 34 that is obviously very raised, and so the consultant has suggested it could be ovarian cancer, she's referred me for a CT scan and a MRI, she did however say it could also be to do with endometriosis. I'm absolutely terrified however as I'm only 24 and if it is indeed ovarian cancer, I don't know how I will cope.

any advice would be appreciated. :(

  • Hi,

Sorry, I can really help much. But I am also in a similar position. However, I had my scans and both MRI and CT come back all clear. They just want to wait and see if it goes down in 6 month. But I hate waiting...

just wondered if maybe you had your scans by now and I hope it's all ok. You are too your for overian cancer, statistically speaking x

  • Hi!

thanks for this, I'm hoping that it's not what they think. I have had my CT etc done, and I've been told that I should get my results for that on Monday. I also had a call from an oncology nurse asking if I'd have someone to look after me if I was to have surgery. So I'm worried that it means it is in fact cancer. I'm not 100% sure yet however and I'm hoping that they can put my mind at ease next week. I hate waiting so I completely understand what you mean. I would be the same in your situation, I will update you after my results come Monday. Here's hoping everything is okay. X

  • I am sure it's all going to fine. Sometime they do ask some simple questions and we over analyze and worry about it.

I will have all my fingers crossed for you

  • Hi every one, my heart goes out to you all.

I was diagnosed with stage 3b grade 3 triple negative breast cancer last October and the it's only juSt hitting me. Up to now I've have a mastectomy with lymph nodes clearence. They found a 6cm Timer and 9 of the lymph nodes they removed were positive for cancer. Since then I've also had a raised level of CA125 blood test. I am worried but because I'm still having chemotherapy I'm praying it will help with the raised level of CA125 and kill what ever is lingering in my body. I have also recently received the news that I have the BRCA1 gene mutations in top of everything else so I will be having preventative surgery which is another mastectomy with lymph nodes clearance and then hysterectomy including the ovaries.

I'm just very lucky to of had my 3year old little girl who gives me the strength to fight against this cancer.I would also love to get to 40years old as I want a huge party but that's another 4 years.

  • Hi.
I am 60 years old and I have been having ongoing issues with pelvic, back pain, spotting, urgency to urinate and more recently extreme tiredness. GP did a full blood count and ca125 which came back raised (not sure by how much) I have an urgent appointment for ultrasound and mentioned possibly biopsy. Just wondering if anyone experienced these symptoms? I am sick with worry.
    thanks

  • Hi there,

I know this was a long time ago but my levels have raised to 180 so I wondered how you had got on in the end?
