Dimple in breast and gp found lump

Hi I have noticed for last few weeks a change in shape at the bottome of my left brest it has dimple id say a inch long when i lift my arm however i do have implants and i assumed it could be that so didnt worry to much however the more i noticed the more I thought about getting checked and booked a GP appointment I went and she immedietly said she could feel a lump and has refferd me for the 14 day cancer track. I am 33 and feeling worried as I had not realised myself there was a lump. Can anyone also advise on the next stages. I only saw the GP yesterday. Thank you.

  • Thank you so much ladies it’s so hard to stay off google which only adds to worry. I’m just waiting for the referral which they said would be within the 14 days But all of the responses have been a very helpful. Can I ask did anyone diagnosed have pain? X

  • I had no symptoms but have been told by breast cancer professionals that pain is not a symptom of breast cancer. Hope that helps. X

  • Hi Cat42,

Sorry it took me a while to reply I just saw this.

I hope you are managing to stay calm waiting for the 24th

My husband will be coming with me next week but is not really willing to discuss anything with me at the moment, he tends to hold things in and look at life with a ‘no news is good news’ perspective. I’m the opposite I have 0 patience and need to know all possible outcomes about everything.

    Take care

    Beck x

  • I didn't have any pain.  Having pain doesn't exclude it being cancerous per se but it does make a whole load of other conditions more likely.

  • Hello ladies, sorry to read what you are going through but as one of the ladies said you have come to the right place. I went to the doctor with a lump in my breast and told I would be seen within 2 weeks. I was seen the following week and had a mammogram, ultrasound scan and two core biopsies taken as they found another lump. I was in total shock everything was happening so fast. I went back for my results and told the main lump was inconclusive and needed to come out within 4 weeks. I had a lumpectomy done just over two weeks later then another two week wait for results. I went through every emotion going from day one. Waiting for results is the hardest part. Thankfully My results can back benign no farther treatment  but a mammogram every year. It took me a good while to get my head round everything that had happened and just as I was I found another lump in the right breast so back again but from the start after an ultrasound scan they said it was a cyst. I know it’s easy to say don’t worry but we are human but there is a lot of breast ladies on here who can help you just have to ask. Please keep us informed how you get on. Big hugs to you all x

  • Thank you again so much how kind you all are and reassuring and to those on the thread oing through the same I wish you the best of luck. I still have not heard anything. the pain isnt severe or even a pain it comes and goes and more of an awareness but does hurt slightly if I press this is a different area of the breast to lump and dimpling the pain is more at the top and under outer towards armpit and dimpling and lumpis underneath the breast. I guess I have to stop worrring as much as I can but it just the waiting for the appointment. x

  • Hi, your situation sounds so similar to mine. I am 33 and went to the doctors with a pain I described as an awareness my breast was there rather than it hurting a great deal. The GP then found a lump and I am now waiting for my appointment on the 24th but am driving myself mad with worry! Good luck with your appointment and thanks for sharing your story.

  • I Really hope your appointment went well today we do sound very similar sending love and positivie thoughts!!!!! unfortunately my GP receptionist had messed my referal up and my appointment is not till the 29th which is 8 days over the 2 week referal I am trying not to think although there is anoth dimple in my breast now on the side and some pain in my nipple at times agai nothing major just awareness.

  • What a pain about your appointment! I am back from mine and pleased to report it was all good news. It turns out the lump I had was 3 small cysts which is why I was getting the tender feeling. However, the sonographer said it would cause more of a lump and bruising to drain them so they were left. I was sent for a mammogram which they don’t usually do at our age just to double check but was signed off there and then. Was told to keep an eye on them but they should disperse on their own and just to go back to my GP if there are any changes. I was told so quickly that I didn’t quite take it all in to begin with! Lots of love and positivity for your appointment too. The waiting for today was so much worse than the appointment itself so try and keep positive ( so hard I know!) and let us know how you get on on the 29th xx

  • I am so so pleased and it has made me feel so much more positive about mine. What fantastic news in time for the bank holiday xxx
