Do I have lymphoma? I'm so scared

Hi everyone,

I have just gone been to the doctors for a full blood test , I have no 'lumps' but I have lost 1stone this month without trying , decrease appetite, general feeling unwell most of the time and I have started getting pain in my neck and ears after consuming even a tiny bit of alcohol, I am 31 non smoke mummy to three amazing children , my youngest is only 6 months , I'm so scared , please advise me , I can't talk to my husband as he is really stressed with work, Does this sound typical of lymphoma? What are the chances of a diagnoses from blood test results?

Any support or advice is really greatfully received , I'm desperate,

Thank you

  • Hi,

I have a small lump in my neck and it's really painful to touch. I'm not sure what to do. Any advice?

  • Hi, I have lymphoma, had chemo and then it came back, I'm on watch and wait this time. I said to my consultant which I see every three months that my lump was a bit painful. Her answer to me was that's a good sign, lymphoma doesn't have pain which is probably right as I didn't have pain with my rather large lump first time. It's a hard lump and doesn't usually move around. I would go to your doctor as they could reassure you if he examined you. Good luck x

  • Hi, did you ever find more results on this?

  • I ended up having a lymph node removed and a biopsy it came back fine at the end of the year.

It was put down to viral and may never return to normal but going forward a few months they are bigger than they have ever been so will be trying to get them looked at again

  • Hi everyone im a 35 year old male and i dont know if im worrying to much but im really scared and freakin out. I suffer really bad with health anxiety but i dont want to be pushed aside because of that as alot of people blame that for your symptoms. Last year i noticed i had an enlarged tonsil which it didnt really bother me as i put it down to having a damaged tooth and it must of been fighting an infection as if i didnt focus on it then it didnt bother me so i left it for a while but the last couple of months i thought this is really aggravating my health anxiety and made a big mistake of reading google and it came up with cancer so i thought i need to put my mind at rest. So i rang gp and gave me an appointment following morning. But that same night before i went to the doctors i noticed some inflammation under both my armpits and that scared me even more. Anyways i went to docs i explained everything what was going on she had a good look at my mouth and tonsils and also felt my neck and then felt the imflamation on my armpits. She said she doesnt see any alarm bells i also told her i changed my antipersparent the other day and she said it was probably a reaction as far as the armpits are concerned so she said she wasnt worried about anything and tried bringing up my anxiety. But since ive left the doctors ive been watching videos about people who have had lymphoma and cancers and last night all of a sudden i have itches in diffarent parts of the body i also have bloating and stomach rumbling alot but i also have ibs but woke up this morning and stools looked ok but i had a horrible night and only slept an hour r 2 as ive been worried thinkin the doctor has missed something. Ive also woke up this morning with muscle pains but my fiancee says your all tense and your worrying alot so it could be your anxiety but i cant stop from being scared and i keep watching stuff and it seems im obsessed that i have cancer i cant find any hard lumps or not having night sweats i did lose abit of weight but i wasnt eating for a couple of days but i manged to wolf down a kfc after i went to the docs then i weighed myself again and i put a couple of pounds back on which im assuming its a good thing. Sorry for the long essay but im really going nuts and i dont know who to talk to without sounding stupid

  • Hi, I think you have to read a bit less as it worrying you too much. When I was examined first time round, my doctor referred me to an ENT consultant, she must have known the lump I had was suspicious, I guess we have to put trust in our doctors. You are young, don't have night sweats or losing weight, these are all the things they look at before they decide on treatment. They can tell the difference when they feel the lumps. I have one in my neck again and it's small and hard, doesn't move around, it's not painful. After my chemo this lump came back very quickly, that was nearly two years ago and I'm on watch and wait, they won't do treatment at this stage, I just have to live with this cancer. Blood cancers are a bit different to other cancers, I'm no doctor, but if you are worried you have to talk to your doctor again, the only way to get a definite diagnosis is a biopsy under your arm. I had one in my neck, under my arm, just to check what kind of lymphoma I had and If it was a slow growing one or aggressive. Ct scans, bone marrow biopsy's. This was all before they decided on whether or not to give me treatment.it takes months to go through all this. Try not to panic, keep your eye on your lump, it may just be a reactive lymph node or maybe your new deodorant. Best wishes

  • Thanks for your reply your very kind and very brave with what your going through. Im just one of those fools that looks straight to google and starts panicing straight away. Apart from this episode my health anxiety has been great the last couple of years but its quite remarkable what anxiety and stress can do to your body pysically never mind mentally. How are you doing? Hope your doing well and thanks again for your reply

  • Hi, you are not a fool, I was a bit of a mess before my treatment started, I read everything I could and it worried me sick. It's taken me a while to get where I'm at. The hospital gave me books about blood cancers, they scared me as well. I've got bloods to get next week at the hospital and I'm worried, not seen my doctor for about a year, before Covid I was going every three months to get checked. But I feel good at the moment, no symptoms like my first time round. When I get checked, she checks all round my neck, under my arms and my groin. An X-ray showed they are back at side of my lungs but no side affects yet. Live for today is my motto, but all I can say is be vigilant and go back to your doctor if your lump doesn't go down. Take care

  • Hi there bit of a long post but looking for some help or info

So a few months back I went to the docs with tightness if my throat which they think is acid reflux they gave me tablets which help but now I have found a swelling at bottom of right side of neck like at the crease if you get me. Doc felt it said it was a vein then another doc felt it never mentioned anything about a vein but said it felt like fatty tissue couldn't feel a lump .. but have been waking in the mornings with face swelling doc gave me steroids which are helping a bit I'm so freaked out I have lymphoma cos that's what google says I know I shouldn't google but easier said than done! I should also mention I'm a little over weight not sure if that comes into anything

if anyone could get back to me that would be appreciated thanks
