Hard Lump on Lower Leg

Hi, I am a 27 year old female and I discovered a lump on my lower leg roughly above my ankle a few years ago. Recently, it has become more noticeable and I believe it has slightly grown in size. It's a hard lump that doesn't move and is painless.

I have been to see a Doctor who referred me to the hospital to have an X-Ray. Results take approximately 2-3 weeks so it's a case of the waiting game at the moment.

Unfortunately, I am a huge worrier. The Doctor said that it's unlikely to be anything serious as it has been there years whereas cancer usually takes months to grow. However, when looking online I have read that cancers can take years to grow, in some cases up to 20 years before being diagnosed.

I don't feel unwell in myself. I do however suffer from dizzy spells and tiredness but I'm not sure if that's down to lack of sleep and stress.

I just hope it's nothing serious but my mind goes into overdrive and think of the worst possible outcome.

  • Hi there

I'm new to this site but have been reading all your posts about small lumps on shins. I have also found a small lump on my shin and went to see my GP today. I’m off work this week as I feel sickly and generally unwell. I only mentioned it to my GP while I was seeing him as it has started to worry me. He said he doubts my lump and my feeling unwell is related but is sending me for an ultrasound scan. I’m currently waiting for a date to come through for that. Has anyone got any updates on your appointments concerning your lumps?

  • Hi there

I was just wondering if your husband managed to get answers for his lump on his shin back in September as I have noticed a small lump on my shin recently and awaiting an ultrasound, I’m also very anxious.

    take care

  • Hi there

I was wondering if you have had any results back regarding your leg? My symptoms seem very similar but I can't find anyone who had a diagnosis

    Cheers

  • Hey, I hope you all got your lumps sorted! I have discovered one on my shin as well, hard, immobile and a tiny bit tender to touch. I thought it's an ingrown hair but it's too hard and not painful enough to be that, so I'm a bit worried. In the current situation, I don't even hope to get any investigation done... Has any of you get any results back?

I hope you all stay safe!

  • did u hear back have have found a lump that slightly tender on my shin and im worried sick unable to sleep  cant see a reply to anybodys questions on here

  • Hi Cod, Did you get any news about your lumps and bumps? Be good to know buddy. Hope you’re all good :)
  • I honestly don't understand how this site works. I've tried to post a response twice and didn't work. In case this one does, my lump sorted itself , it became bruised after a few days and dissapeared in about a week. Good luck everyone!

  • Hi, I am in the same situation as a lot of people here, finding one lump on my shin that started to get bigger, more painful, and multiplying by the week. I eventually went to the doctor after doing some research on them and my gp agreed it's something called "Erythema Nodosum". As far as I can recall she said it's basically the result of another infection in the body, in my case it was a chest infection. I think in total I had 7/8 lumps, but there's been cases of up to 50. They usually last up to 6 weeks but I've just hit the 6 almost 7 month mark and that's me down to just one rather painful one on my upper ankle. I had 4 different blood tests done rather than scans and that showed one of my levels which show infection was sky high. It was the most uncommonly done test as well that came back unusual. Anyway I hope this helps someone out there find some answers!

  • Hi everyone, I hope you are all ok?

I am looking for some advice?

For the past few weeks I have had a pain which I thought was a sprained ankle. Turns out just above my ankle, at the side of the bottom of my leg, I have pinpoint pain, and what feels like a 'bump' in my bone. It is very painful to touch, and slightly uncomfortable with walking.

I am going to call the doctor's tomorrow, but I don't know if I warrant it , or warrant an x-ray? Any advice would be great

    Thank you!

  • Hi

I'm new to the forum, just been googling (as you do) and found this group.

I would get it checked out.  I have a new lump which is bang in the middle of my shin and its very painful to touch.

I've put a call into the Dr's, expecting a phone call or video appointment given the current situation.

I am petrified, Dr Google has of course already diagnosed me.

    Hope you get sorted x
