Waiting for biopsy results - Uterine Cancer

I have just started the agonising wait for results. Had a hysteroscopy on Saturday and was told it should be 2 weeks. I am quite a strong person but this is going to be hard. Of course I know that it could be fine but I went to my GP in January and it is now April. Even if the results are clear I still have to have all the polyps removed under a 'general'.

  • Hello all,

I hope you are all safe and well, and that you had had some positive news recently.

I had a hysteroscopy and biopsy yesterday, as well as the subsequent removal of polyps (which they hadn't known were there beforehand) and it was all done without any local or general anesthetic. I have to say, it was the most painful thing I have ever experienced. I really don't know why women are forced into having these inhumane procedures without anesthetic. Jeez, it really was seriously excruciating.

But, on the plus side, it's done now, and I will await the results of the biopsy. I've never had a biopsy before but I'm hoping the results come back quickly. It's very nervewracking. :(

    xx

  • Hello everyone , I'm so sorry to hear what everyone is going through I've been sick with worry not eating or sleeping for over 2 months , I got my results on Tuesday so I'm at the other end of all this now , and my results were all clear i am so happy to say , I've been through hell and back , ! To be honest what a year it's been for everyone but to have cancer worry's on top of everything else is just horrible times ! But honestly I know it's hard but try not to worry because I'll be honest everyone told me not to worry and I just couldn't help it , u made my self very ill ! , but I will say a lady before me came out and said it was painful , mine wasn't that bad I took pain killers before I went in hour before , and I tolerated it fine , but I went in and was scared after that lady came out but the nurse said to me everyone is different! So thankfully mine wasn't to bad , and even tho this pandemic going out they were all brilliant and treated me lovely one nurse even held on to my shoulder, ! I couldn't have been better looked after xxx hope use all get good results, but my advice would be try not to worry to much , as I know from my experience I made my self very ill .  Lots of love

  • Kerry glad to hear your results were ok!! Had my hysteroscopy and D&C on Mon. I had a general anaesthetic and I'm feeling fine after no pains, minimal bleeding, mostly I've just been groggy from the anaesthetic. The doctor said the polyp was fluffy looking tissue and he's sent it off plus scrapings. He said he's not worried so that has calmed me a good bit. I've to see him on 6 weeks and if there is anything concerning they will ring me before then

  • I had to respond to your post, although it is from sometime ago, I hope you are doing well.  I had a uternine biopsy last week, no pain meds and was in agony during the procedure, I have a 18 year history of vaginal pain so wasn't looking forward to this, have problems with smears, not had children... they said it would be a few cramps, it felt a lot more than that to me!  I've been booked in for a hysteroscopy now, wasn't offered GA but am insisting, can't go through anythign like the biopsy..

  • Had one today with biopsy. Found small fibroids and polyp. Consultant said all ok and biopsy is belt and braces approach. Dont know why if so confident all is ok and like others it was excruciatingly painful! Never again!!

  • Hi all Painful it was.

Hi I had a endometrial biopsy on 05/01/2021 I was told it was simular to a pap test and to take some pain relief before attending the appointment which i did,I read leaflet prior to on the procedure and what to expect which was slight cramping snd period like pain which it wasnt.
The procedure was excruciating i was in total agony and as well as the procedure i was also at the same time fitted with marina coil no anaesthetic used i could of screamed the room down ive never felt pain like this in my life.On leaving the hospital i could barely walk luckily my husband was with me to drivee me home I wad in agony at home I got into bed I took some pain relief and and a hot water bottle psin eased a little left me with cramps and bleeding .

This procedure should be raised in parliament surely a anaesthetic should be used.

my tolerance to pain is usually pretty good but it wasnt with this procedure.

  • Hello,

I can relate to this. I've just had the same procedure done on 15/01. They haven't fitted a coil though. I've still got dull cramping pains. Having to use hot water bottle, heat pads etc. I'm post menopause so with hot flushes the hot water bottle can be a pain in itself. My GP was really unhelpful but has prescribed some stronger painkillers.

  • Hi I've also had this biopsy done to get fluid off no anaesthetic didn't get enough fluid first time so had to have it done again, now I consider myself as quite a high pain threshold and I've never in my life felt pain like that before my husband was in the next room to say I was as white as a ghost is an understatement, plus they still didn't get enough fluid off so ended up going into hospital daycare to have it done again under general anaesthetic so I understand what your going through.

  • Hi I experienced the same . Awful pain all the way through the procedure.  Even after the local anaesthetic!
won't go through that again.   Then I stood up and passed out for half an hour.
