Waiting for biopsy results - Uterine Cancer

I have just started the agonising wait for results. Had a hysteroscopy on Saturday and was told it should be 2 weeks. I am quite a strong person but this is going to be hard. Of course I know that it could be fine but I went to my GP in January and it is now April. Even if the results are clear I still have to have all the polyps removed under a 'general'.

  • Had 1 today, n was in severe pain all the way through, they say it should be painless, yet I'd got two nurses fanning me with bedpans as I'd gone pure white n was sweating because of the pain I was in, I'm dreading my results but not because of their outcome, because I'm absolutely terrified of having a procedure like that done again, my doctor said I'd had aneasetic, but I felt that much pain surely it should of been stopped as that's what you quote ? I'd rather them operate to remove anything they find, than to go through that again. Am I the only 1 who feels this bad ?

  • I had hysteroscopy done yesterday and had two biopsy’s taken cause she didn’t think she had enough, omg I can tolerate quiet abit of pain but that was horrendous I was doing abit of shouting she said if  they needed more tissue samples they have to it under general anaesthetic next time, my husband doesn’t seem to no wat all the fuss about like I’ve had a stroll in the park and I’ve graised  my knee, I’ve cried non stop since yesterday because I think I’m over reacting about it as well maybe it’s just shock...

  • I’d send him this https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/hysteroscopy/

It might help him understand how you’re feeling!

I had a general anaesthetic as I had other stuff done too. Only just feeling back to normal and that’s a week later. On top of the physical pain there’s the waiting for results!!!

Hope you’re ok, sounds like an awful experience.

    Sending love x

  • Thank you daisydoo it really wasn’t nice and I can tolerate quite abit of pain have had 3 children and 1 was a ceaseran but that was just horrendous.x

  • that's so wrong Helen, mine was also to painful but they did stop immediately and were really good, had to have it done under GA a week later, suppose it is really a post code lottery depending on were you live  but no way after all we go through should it be that painful,

the 2 week wait for the results seemed to drag on forever with me, such a relief to find out in the end (even though the results were not good) I just hated the not knowing.

anyway Helen good luck with the results really hope they are clear

ps and tell you other half to imagine him having a vasectomy without anaesthetic

  • dont get me wrong they were lovely nurses and very supportive they took the first sample and she didnt think she had enough so she did ask me if they could take another one and i just said yes ok, but they also said that if they didnt get what they needed they would have to give me general anesthetic if results come back not so good so will have to wait and see what happens i hate waiting!!!!!!!

  • Yes the waiting is very stressful!

  • Hope you got some good news yesterday Jan55.

  • Hi, I’m new in here and just wanted to let you know that I feel your pain in respect of your husband.   I wished so much that they sold empathy at Asda as I would go and buy them out of it all for mine.

I hope you have your results by now ?

I had an endometrial biopsy Friday , then my partner allowed me to drive to Scarborough , as he was tired. He watched me pick up boxes in the rain and then when I woke him at 3 in the morning as I was gushing blood (like pad filled from having walked 10 metres from the toilet) and massive clots - he told me he had a migraine !!  Whilst I accept migraines are not very nice , at least he knew what was happening to him ! I answered he needed to find me the health phone number and I telephoned 111 who sent an ambulance and I was admitted to hospital.  I was discharged that evening having being given clotting meds and scan . He was sympathetic for the night and the following day sent to have forgot. I feel so lonely and yes, like you, like I am making a fuss out of nothing .

I had already come to the conclusion that I need to get my emotional support from friends but sometimes I just need a hug . Your not alone there and I send you a hug x

  • Here's a hug for you too.

I got my results last Tuesday. I was Stage 1a, grade 1. I dont need any Radiotherapy. Just hospital appointments for the next 3 years and then I can say I'm cancer free. I need my energy to care for my hubby

    Take care xx

  • PS

Have you got your results yet xx
