Breast Cancer , very scared waiting for referral

Hi Everyone,

I am very new to this and also very scared. I have noticed on the lower side of my left breast there are 2 patches where it looks like my breast is being pulled inwards. If i stand with my arm above my head it is very noticable and it never used to look like this. My nipple on this side also leaks at times and quiet often feels sticky. I got my husband to have a look to check i wasnt imagining it and he spotted it straight away.

I went to the doctors yesterday and she also spotted it straight away. She has refrered me to the breast clinic on the 2 week wait system and all she could say was try not to worry but she doesnt have xray vision which i understand.

I am so scared has anyone else had this kind of systems and it urned ot to all be fine.

  • Good morning All

Well I have finally made it, today is the day. I’m so nervous for what today brings, hopefully some positive news.

  • I feel even worse now than I did before going to the hospital. They examined my breast and the doctor said yes she can see if and my left breast tissue feels different to my right. She took a slide of the fluid from my left breast to be tested and then said I have got to go back for another appointment for a scan. She said I was too young at 36 for a mammogram and I would have to got back for my scan and possible biopsy. I thought this was all going to be done this morning so more waiting. I not sure how to hold on while I continue to wait.

  • Hi Everyone,

I have just has a call from the hospital to say they had the results back from the slide they look from my left breast and there was blood in the fluid. They are sending a consultants appiontment straight away but  am still waiting for my Scan appointment. I am now officaly terrified. Hurry up Scan i am struggling to cope.

  • I’ve just my appointment through for my scan and biopsy at the hospital. Next Thursday (10th) another week of waiting. It’s so hard to to go out of your mind with all the waiting

  • Waiting is the absolute worst. I’m waiting for my husbands colonoscopy and I’m terrified. Sometimes distracting yourself with seeing a friend or work helps and takes your mind off it for a minute.

It’s so hard but try to remain positive. everyone is here to support x

  • Hiya Lisa

Waiting for initial appointments and results is one of the worst experiences ad you just don't know what you are dealing with. So many posts on here are about waiting. Finally you have a date for the consultant and biopsy which is a step forward. I'm sorry to tell you that there will be about another weeks wait for the results.

Once you know what you're dealing with good or bad can at least stop you from going off on a tangent to places in your mind that scare the heck out of you.

Just know that there are a whole load of ladies here to support you. You can do it. Others have and I'm doing it now....about to move to radiotherapy so the end of active treatment is in sight.

Please keep us updated and of course come and chat if you need or want to speak to us here x

  • I know how you feel, had a mammogram, scan, and biopsies taken last week. Get my results on the 10th May. Not knowing the results is horrible. Best wishes

    Hi,

I am so sorry to read that you are waiting for the results of your tests. This is always a scary time. I have had two bouts of breast cancer. The first was 8 years ago and the second was 7.

Try to keep yourself as busy as you can to help to pass the time while you are waiting. Also try to avoid consulting 'Dr Google', as you will only end up scaring yourself out of your wits for no apparant reason.

Please keep in touch and let us know how your results are.

We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi all,

I just thought i would drop you all a line ans say how things are going. I went to see the consultant last thursday expecting to be given but the all clear but that didnt happen. My scan came back all clear but the consultant is still worried about the red blood cells in the fluid leaking for my nipple. She sent me for another examination, blood test and another slide fof the fluid. I have to go back in 6 weeks to discuss if i have to have surgery to test my milk ducts.

    Hi Lisa,

I am so sorry to hear that you still haven't had the all clear and that you are now waiting on the results of more tests.  I hope that you are going to get these results before you have to see the consultant again in 6 weeks, as you have had a lot of waiting around for results.

Here's hoping that these tests at least give you an answer.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
