Going Private for a Diagnosis

i have chosen to see a private dermatologist regarding a suspiosious skin lession. The dermatologist was concerned and chose to remove it. Still waiting on results. I chose to do this as the local NHS for skin cancer care is overloaded and I was told I would have to wait over a month to see anyone this was after I chased my referal after not hearing anything.

once I have the result and iif it turns out to be cancer I don’t have the funds to have full treatment in a private hospital. And would have to go back to the NHS. Can anyone advise how I go about this, or have been through this and can provide me some guidance

any advice would be great

Hi again, KTS1.

I recently found myself in exactly the same position as you. My results came back as negative with no follow up or further treatment required.

However, if I had needed further treatment, the consultant would have referred me back to the NHS. Apparently this is routine and happens a lot.

Thanks for this, just felt it was important to get seen ASAP, a relative recently had to wait 3 months from referal to a result and I couldn’t deal with the mental anxiety of waiting that long
