Absolutely terrified

I found a tiny lump in my armpit. I had shaved my underarms the day before and when I got in the shower they felt a bit sore and I found a lump.

i am obsessive about checking my breasts and underarms and this seemed to appear overnight. That was 2 weeks ago and it shrinks overnight then appears again. I struggle to find it sometimes.

ive been to the doctors and am now on the 2 week wait referral. My appointment is a week on Friday but I’m terrified, I can’t stop thinking about it and feel physically sick

    I'm so sorry to hear this. What a horrible position to find yourself in. I think the best reassurance often comes in the form of new information and I'm very glad your appointment is a week on Friday.

    A day at a time is one way to cope until then, but when I was waiting for my first appointment I found an hour at a time worked best for me. I chose something nice to keep myself occupied for an hour, and the started over again. Streaming box sets worked best of all . . .

    It'd be nice to hear how your appointment goes, if you'd like to let us know.

    Hi Lucymargy,

    A very warm welcome to the forum.

    We all get very anxious before our first breast clinic appointment. Are you aware that not all lumps are cancerous? Many turn out to be benign cysts, fibroadenoma, etc. It is a fact that of all the people that attend the breast clinic, only 20% will get a breast cancer diagnosis, so here's hoping that you'll be one of the lucky ones! If your consultant decides to take a biopsy, you may also have a further 1-3 weeks wait before you get your results, so you're best to be prepared for more waiting, then it'll be a bonus if you don't need one. I sincerely hope that all turns out well for you.
