Dismissed during referral - lymphoma

Hi all,

I wanted to come on here for some advice. I noticed a lump in my neck just under my jaw weeks ago and finally went to get it checked. I hadn’t realised many of my symptoms including fatigue (which I’d put down to work), itchy skin, fevers etc were attributed to potentially lymphoma until the doctor put me on a 2WW referral to Haematology.

The doctor noted it was a 3cm lymph node with no reasonable explanation and given the rest of my symptoms that was the best action. When I attended my referral appointment from the get go it was completely dismissive. I was told by the clinician I was too young to be worried about cancer (I’m 24 for context), my bloods were normal and he couldn’t even feel the lump (which is still there). I was essentially made to feel as though me worrying about it being cancer was making my symptoms show, even though it was the doctor who initially mentioned this possibility!

I’m just looking for advice on where to go from here, he essentially said he would do the ultrasound “to make me happy” and “show me nothing was there”.

I’ve just been made to feel like I’m making it up and I’m at a loss!
