Waiting for five months for results!

Hello.

I had a minor op on my arm for suspected melanoma, five months ago. I still haven't heard anything back about the results. I keep getting told by the Medical Centre in Caerphilly to try my surgery, who then tell me to call the medical centre.

I wish I could just speak to the doctor at the medical centre who performed the surgery. It is so frustrating and worrying not to know anything after so long

Rayne.

  • Hello Rayne

Write a letter, not an email or phone call to the medical centre, setting out what you need from them and mention the 5 month wait.

Then include a paragraph asking how to make a formal complaint.

Both your GP's surgery and the Medical Centre have let you down badly and you are likely not alone in this.

    Hope you get a result.

  • Hello Ed.

Thank you so much for that information. I shall do that right away.

I even called the medical centre again this morning and asked for the practice manager. I was told she was at lunch and would call me me back, but she still hasn't and they will be closing now!

Do you think I should address it to the doctor there that did the surgery?

    Many thanks again.

    Rayne.

  • Hello Rayne

Addressing your letter to the doctor who performed the surgery may get you a quicker reply.

While phone calls and emails can be ignored a physical letter cannot, especially if you get proof of posting (free at post office) or send it 'signed for'.

Best wishes getting the information you require.

    Thank you once again.

I will address it to the doctor and get the letter signed for too.

    Kindest regards,

    Rayne. X
