Hi everyone.
I have recently had a referral to the breast clinic as I found a lump in my left breast. The lump is painful to the touch, does this mean it’s cancerous? I’m really scared because my family has a history of cancer, both my parents died of cancer and my brother is going through cancer and both my grandmother‘s died of cancer.
The doctor could feel the lump straight away and made the urgent referral. I understood that I would be seen within two weeks, but my appointment has come through for 14th of August, which is almost a month after my referral. I can’t stand the waiting and not knowing what is happening, I have a holiday booked for early September which has been planned for over a year. If I have to cancel, I want to know as soon as possible to get the ball rolling if there is something serious.
What would be the possibility of getting seen before the clinic date? In reality I would guess not very high but is it worth me enquiring at the clinic and asking for cancellations or any short notice appointment? I’m just in a state wondering what to do, my anxiety is through the roof and I can’t think of anything else at the moment.
