Hi,
Three weeks ago, I found a large mass right at the very top of my breast (around the 12 o’clock position). At one point, I even thought it was on my chest because my breasts are quite saggy.
Today I had an ultrasound, and the doctor told me it was “nothing to worry about - just glandular tissue.” At the time, I didn’t feel the need to ask any questions because I think I heard exactly what I had been hoping to hear. I felt so overwhelmed and just wanted to get home and see my family.
Now, though, I’m overthinking everything and wish I’d asked more questions. Why do I have it? Will it disappear? Are they certain it’s glandular tissue? What if there’s an actual lump or cancer hiding behind it? I know I’m probably spiralling because I’m naturally an anxious person and tend to overthink. The last three weeks have been incredibly stressful, and I’ve barely slept because of the anxiety.
The mass is quite large - about the size of a small egg. Has anyone else been told they had glandular tissue that felt like a lump, and everything turned out okay?
I just don’t understand why I don’t feel reassured. I’m struggling to understand why it appeared in the first place and whether it could cause problems in the future. The doctor said I should get back in touch if I notice any changes or have any concerns.
I’ve also been feeling a bit of pressure in that area and have an achy armpit. Has anyone else experienced something similar, or could this just be my anxiety making me more aware of everything?
One other thing that’s been playing on my mind: the doctor marked the area with a pen during the ultrasound, but when I got home I noticed the mark is actually below where I feel the mass. Has anyone else had this happen? Am I overthinking that too?
