Possible Squamous Cell Carcinoma on face

Hello to everyone, I've just joined and am hoping to connect with and share thoughts and feeling with people, feeling very worried at the moment as I had a suspected squamous cell carcinoma removed from my face by incision one week ago today, has anyone else experienced this? I'm coping with the wound ok but am worried about my results when I go back in August...shout out out to our NHS though for the speed in which I was given my appointments and also for the care I have received for which I am so very grateful :-)

  • Hello Tatty2shoes

Sorry to hear you’ve had to go through surgery to your face for SCC. The scar will fade over time and you will become more used to it. Hopefully it was completely removed and that is an end to it. The important thing is that you very likely have other areas of sun damaged skin, which need protection from further UV sunlight exposure. If you don’t already do so, wear a hat whenever you are out, use sunscreen every day and long sleeved clothing. Avoid midday sun. Like you I have praise for the NHS treatment and care I am receiving for Squamous Cell Carcinoma.

  • Hiya and thank you for your supportive and positive reply. Yes I do use sunscreen and stay out of midday sun and have never been a sun worshipper although I can remember getting sunburn at the seaside many years ago. As you say it has has hopefully been completely removed and that is the end of it.

Sorry to hear of your own SCC, is it ok to ask you about it? I understand and respect if you would rather not discuss it though, also I m glad to hear that you are receiving good care and treatment from the NHS,

    Kind regards,

    Tatty

  • Hi again, I'm not sure if my reply got to you... I'm not very good at this at all! if it didn't get to you I'll try again tomorrow, take care
