Post Menopausal Bleeding

Hi

Last night (Friday) I had some light brown discharge.  There is also slightly brighter brown/red when I insert my finger into my vagina (apologies if TMI!) but no further discharge as yet.  I’m 55 years old and it’s been over 3 years since my last period.  I’m terrified it’s cancer.  I spoke to the 111 service and she recommended I get a BV test kit, which indicated trichomoniasis which as I’ve not been sexually active suggests it’s not the most accurate result.  I will phone my GP on Monday but I’m already seeing a psychologist for health anxiety so this is my nightmare come true.

I live on my own, I don’t have anyone I can talk to (friends were never really my thing!) and my family have passed away over the last few years so I’m very isolated.  I just thought it might be helpful to reach out via this forum for connection.

Thank you for reading this.

  • I’m so so sorry not to have replied further, especially as you were so kind in responding to my initial question.  I have been thinking of you both but after my last reply I had a bit of a moment and went into a depressive/anxiety state.  As well as the fear of having cancer it’s also highlighted how lonely/alone I am.

I went to the doctor and she has fast tracked me on the 2 week cancer pathway so I’m now waiting to hear about an appointment.

    1. Dollysocks - I’m so pleased you’ve gone for the Wednesday surgery date - the waiting that is so stressful and this will be one more jump onto the road to recovery.  Please take your recovery slowly-both emotionally and physically x

Cat-Cat - I really hope you get the date for your biopsy soon.  The waiting is hellish for you x

  • Hello Maebelle really pleased to hear you have been referred and are now within the system. Yes it's understandable feeling alone you can come on here if you are lonely I know its not the same as in person.

I am thinking of you and hope your wait isnt too long. Sending hugs to you and a nice cup of tea... That's what im having now xxxx

  • Hi Maebelle ,

That’s good that you are on the 2 week pathway and I hope you get things moving soon.

I am sorry  that you are finding it tough . It is difficult going through this and I think it is understandable for us to re- evaluate other things going on in our lives .

Just be kind to yourself and come back on here to chat when you feel up to it x

  • Dear Dollysocks sending lots of love for tomorrow - I will be thinking of you.  I know it’s going to be a very daunting day but just think of that first cup of tea after the op and how delicious it will be! xx

  • Hi Dollysocks ,

Also thinking of you for tomorrow . Hope it goes ok and that you will be further along the road to getting better x
