Scared after seeing on my NHS app the words 'suspected gynaecological cancer'

Hello,

I went to the Dr about 3 weeks ago after some bleeding in between periods and lower back pain.

Had a blood test done on Tuesday, which came back as abnormal. My CA125 result was 43. I spoke to the Dr and she said she would do a fast track referral for a scan and to see a gynecologist. The scan date has come through for 28th May.

I am really scared after seeing on my NHS app the words 'suspected gynecological cancer'. I am 42.

  • I really hope it helps me, I can't imagine it will calm my nerves but you never know!x

  • I just googled it and it sounds like a form of proper pain relief so fingers crossed you find it works for you. In the setting I was in there was no pain relief offered apart from a bit of local anaesthetic in the cervix and I was told to take paracetamol an hour before the appointment. As I said the lady in before me had the procedure and managed fine and my GA was due to my ablation. Also if you decide it’s not going to be something you want to do absolutely just ask for a general. They were very clear to me that I didn’t have to have the hysteroscopy then and there at my consultant appointment but in a way I’d wanted it over and done with but hadn’t realised the extent to which my ablation would cause problems getting the camera in. Best of luck for yours and again I think these chats are so helpful and the next people who come into this situation will be able to gain information on it :-)

  • Thank you, yes I am so pleased I found this forum!

I will try it. I remember having the local anaesthetic when I had a colposcopy  about 10 years ago and just remember uncontrollably shaking as I reacted to the adrenaline. They kept telling me to be still, I tried telling them I couldn't help it!

Sorry for TMI but I had an upset tummy yesterday, that hasn't happened for so long! Was a bit of a mission doing the school and preschool run.

Hope everyone is ok, we have lots of rain here today x

  • Hello. Had the coil fitted wasn't pleasant. Dont like the fact I have it in my body, but what can you do?!!
