Hi, I’m currently on day 14 of my two week cancer pathway journey. I’m 32, wife and a mama to a 5’year old. not biologically mine, my wife carried her. Iv never had a period ever, there has never been a cause for this but I do have regular screenings.
5 weeks ago I had my standard 6 Month biopsy, I have hyperplasia, thickened lining of my womb but I have never had bad cells. This time 2 weeks after my biopsy I had a letter stating I had areas of atypia and they were serious cause for concern and will be discussed in person, I was due an appointment follow up on 27th November so just thought that’s okay I’ll wait till then and find out what this all means.
2 days after the letter, at 5pm I have a phonecall from my consultant, saying she was on holiday but wanted to speak with me because she saw the letter had gone out and wanted to make sure I was informed of everything.
she basically said the atypica is ‘pre cancerous’ cells but due to the histology report from the lab it was a concern and due to that she was putting me on a 2 week cancer pathway to investigate. Obviously this came has a huge shock.
she believes I may have areas of cancer already in my womb.
within 24 hours I had so many phonecall, to have bloods taken, a gynae face to face appointment and an mri scan.
the gynae appointment told me I needed to go on a high dose of progesterone - 200mg a day - this is causing so much dizziness! I can’t look after my daughter for 2 hours when I take them. And he explained I have complex severe atypia. He also said I may need a hysterectomy and to keep it in mind.
the mri scan was done Sunday just gone with buscopan. I was also told by my consultant after this was done it would all go to a multidisciplinary meeting? And then I’ll get the results.
how long do you think I will be waiting?
im so worried. And the not knowing is eating me up inside! I haven’t slept since Sunday just waiting for a letter. Do they send another letter like last time, or a phonecall? Or do I have to wait until 27th November!
