Positive FIT & referral

Hi all,

I was hoping someone could share some information or experiences. I originally went to my dr as I thought I felt a lump, long story short they thought it was my gallbladder then after fit tests that came back high and abnormal.

Now im in the 2 week pathway and was expecting to get a letter for an appointment but I received a text that I am first getting a phone call can anyone explain why? I also had to fill out forms and one option was asking me what operation I was having.

Im confused and don't know what to expect. Ive had tummy problems for a while but they were getting worse, bad toilet moments, a lot of pains and bloating, etc basicly all cancer symptoms minus massive weight loss although I have lost some.

Im only 32 and have 2 small boys, and the waiting and not understanding what is happening next is setting my brain in overdrive but trying to look cool calm and collected to the small few I have told.

Thanks in advance!

  • Hi CLou92,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. This sounds difficult and I'm sure the uncertainty about what's going on is tough.

I'm not too sure why they have said you are getting a phone call first. I'm not sure if you've now had this phone call, but if not then I hope it's not long to wait for you to find out more.

In the meantime you may find it helpful to speak to one of our nurses. If you'd like do to this you can either post in the 'Ask the Nurses' section of this forum, or call freephone 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • Hi you normally get a phone call first if you are waiting to have a Colonoscopy ,they normally ring to ask a few questions and to give you a date for your Colonoscopy ,I'm sure that's what it will be ,that's what happened to me and 2 occasions .

  • Thank you for your reply, my call is next week so I will update then incase anyone else has this experience. Its the lack of information although im sure everything is fine i didn't even think about cancer till my GP, but I may speak to a nurse if my anxiety gets worse, thanks again!

  • Thank you for this, I think with them not even telling me what I need to have done Its caused more stress or wondering if i was just going to get fobbed off. I was sent the the hospital originally with pain in my tummy and was denied a scan because "i wasn't in enough pain" according to the hospital when I was sent there not like I turned up. Thank you for sharing your experience im sure this will be the case :)

  • Let us know how you get on Clou92 and if there's anything else you need to know just ask always available .
