Bleeding after menopause

Hi, I am 50 and had my last period 18 months. 2 weeks ago I started experiencing period symptoms, sore breasts, abdominal pain and then had bleeding for 5 days, it then stopped and nothing since. I’ve googled it and scared myself. I’m about to call the doctors now but admit I have been putting it off. I’ve also been experiencing symptoms of needing to pee frequently and bowel movements have been all over the place, constipated one day then on the loose side the next day and so on.
I’m going to stop putting it off and will call the doctors after this message but can’t stop worrying. Had abnormal cells years ago when I was in my twenties and had to have a procedure to burn them away, something that I found really painful so I have a fear of having to have anything like that again. I do however have regular smears and my last one was only a few months ago and came back normal. I also got selected to have the lovely poo sample tested and posted. That was also normal. I think I will be fine and it’s nothing to worry about however fear is niggling at the back of my mind. Anyone else had similar issues?

  • Hi. Had both scans & within 24 hrs text to contact GP. I go to gynae on 21st at 9am with a list of possible procedures inc biopsy. Which they tried before & tore my cervix, which led to infection. So if they need an internal biopsy, then I'm only having a GA as twice I went through hell whilst awake & it couldnt be done. Thats all I know so far. I pee loads now as well.

How are you doing? You say your tests abnormal but ok, what does that mean, something seen but not serious? X

    • That sounds really unpleasant, I hope you have a better time of it this time around.
my other ultrasound was abnormal but they didn’t seem concerned as it was just fibroids and small cysts. They have decided to do an ultra sound of my bladder however due to my other issues going on. Then to add to the joy I discovered blood yesterday in my stool so I had to call about that, I imagine that will be a camera now. Oh well at least they are checking everything. Really hope all your further tests go ok and you don’t have any issues this time.
