Bleeding after menopause

Hi, I am 50 and had my last period 18 months. 2 weeks ago I started experiencing period symptoms, sore breasts, abdominal pain and then had bleeding for 5 days, it then stopped and nothing since. I’ve googled it and scared myself. I’m about to call the doctors now but admit I have been putting it off. I’ve also been experiencing symptoms of needing to pee frequently and bowel movements have been all over the place, constipated one day then on the loose side the next day and so on.
I’m going to stop putting it off and will call the doctors after this message but can’t stop worrying. Had abnormal cells years ago when I was in my twenties and had to have a procedure to burn them away, something that I found really painful so I have a fear of having to have anything like that again. I do however have regular smears and my last one was only a few months ago and came back normal. I also got selected to have the lovely poo sample tested and posted. That was also normal. I think I will be fine and it’s nothing to worry about however fear is niggling at the back of my mind. Anyone else had similar issues?

  • Thanks, will do, yes completely understand, I have just been looking at myself in the mirror and I look 6 months pregnant from the bloating. Will Let you know how it goes. Xx

  • How did you get on with results? I've got 2 scans tomoz morn ( 1st Julyy) pelvic & TVP.

Hope all went ok for u x

  • Hi Sky I only hope that you get some positive news soon. I understand your concerns if you still have ongoing symptoms but our minds can tend to make us think the worst. I know mine does since going through menopause my anxiety has ramped up especially health anxiety! Sorry to hear that you’re not able to share your concerns with your hubby right now but can understand why particularly as he’s only just coming to terms with the loss of his mum thinking of you x

  • Sorry to hear that you’re having a difficult time Minnie and your husband being diagnosed with Cancer must be extremely difficult. I only hope that your scans go well and everything turns out well. The waiting is dreadful only wish we got results straightaway all the best x

  • Hey, even though the results came back abnormal the doctor doesn’t seem that concerned with what was picked up on the near sound so they have decided to go with the “wait and see” approach, if I get any more bleeds then I will be booked for a Hysteroscopy. If not then no further action. So it’s good news unless I get another bleed. Does worry me that the ultra sound said Limited views of the endometrium due to uterus heterogenous but doctor was concerned with that. Hope your scans went ok today xx let me know how you got on.

    • Hi FaithHope, doctor said that although ultra sound came back abnormal they were not concerned as it just picked up small fibroids. They have decided to “wait and see” and won’t need any further action now unless I get another bleed, how’s everything with you? X
  • Hi ya good news & some relief. I go in morn to have my scans.

Will let you know, take care xx

  • Hi Minnie, how did your scans go? I thought mine was done with but they decided to do an ultra sound of my bladder due to frequent urinating, bloating and stomach ache, not a water infection, been for that this morning. Usually I never go doctors now I feel like I’m having a thorough mot lol

  • Hi Faith, results were abnormal but ok however they decided to do an ultra sound of my bladder due to frequent urinating and bloating. My dad had bladder cancer a few years ago so I guess they are extra cautious due to family history. I have had that done today so waiting on that now. I never normally go doctors and now feel like I’m having a mot. Are you waiting on results still? X
