Pre cancerous cells in womb

I had a hysteroscopy 3 weeks ago (29/1) along with a biopsy and mirena coil insertion, this was due to having irregular periods. My periods have been irregular since they started at age 13. This was the third or fourth time seeing a doctor about the problem.

Then on Wednesday (19/2) I received a call to book for an MRI scan, totally panicked I called the hospital and my gp to try and find out my biopsy results.
picked up my results the following day which confirmed ‘pre-cancerous changes to the womb lining’. I had the MRI the same day.

Recieved a letter today (22/2), giving me an appointment for a colposcopy next week.

I am terrified, it’s all happened so quickly, (which of course I’m grateful for) but I’m also finding it all quite overwhelming

  • 27 years ago I to received a call to say my smear wasn’t what it should be and I was made an appointment for the gynaecology. Yes 3/4 of my cervix was covered with pre cancer cells on that day they burned them out. Sounds horrific but they were lovely and very caring towards me and I was okay sore but okay. So 27 years on and everything is okay down there. I was shocked to find out they where pre cancer and appreciating how lucky I have been.
    I hope this helps a little x

  • I at just turned 21 remember having things frozen or burnt off my cervix that supposedly were the cause of my irregular bleeds especially around sex. Totally forget they did that. Then for years I suffered pelvic pain eventually diagnosed as endometriosis in a laparoscopy where I KNOW they also removed from my bowel lining. I was on Pilates for 3 plus years then NOTHING. Except confirmation I’m perimenopausal when actually it could all be bowel cancer & that’s made me worry about the gynae side as a private mri 2 years ago happened to show a large fibroid & I’ve always had ovarian cysts. Overdue smear test now PETRIFIED. As also at 17 I had HPV yet have been clear ever since.

it’s great they are on the case for you- do not panic as scary as cancer can be, treatments are much more advanced than in the past hence survival rates are thankfully high with more learnt about various types all the time.

easier said than done don’t panic or stop worrying- I know that as have struggled to switch it off since the 11th when email reply confirmed still on the cancer pathway.& yet NO clue exactly why except had to be related to the transverse colon biopsies taken but I don’t know what other histology would appear as don’t say they took any others- very confusing

Keep in touch with how you get on if it helps to message someone away from friends & family (I’m finding forums brilliant for learning about others experiences)

    Love C Xx
