51 and 90% sure I have endometrial cancer

Hi there! I’m 51 and had a post menopausal bleed about six weeks ago after being intimate with my partner. I went through the menopause about 10 years ago and had a bilateral salpingo oopherectomy about 8 years ago as I had a benign growth on my left ovary which grew to take up most of my pelvic cavity. Suddenly out of nowhere I have the most horrendous symptoms so am going to have an ultrasound and transvaginal ultrasound next week. Just over a week ago I started having very bad constant cramping and shooting pains similar to period pains, am very bloated, lower back pain and am just wiped out. When the go did an internal I was in tears as the pain was excruciating so she referred me on the 2ww. This hasn’t abated at all and it just feels like there is something there. I’ve had a fair amount of trans ultrasounds but I’m terrified about this one next week and not because of what they’ll find but because of the pain. I think I’ve resigned myself to the fact that I do have cancer and what will be will be

  • Hello Niknak17,

I just wanted to wish you the best of luck for your ultrasound and transvaginal ultrasound next week. You are right to get those symptoms checked out and it's good that the GP was thorough and has made an urgent referral. Poor you it sounds like you are in a lot of pain so it's important that they find out  what the cause of these issues might be and that they find suitable treatment for you so that your symptoms can quickly improve.

I know it is such an anxious time for you and it is normal to anticipate the worst when dealing with symptoms like this that seem to have appeared quite suddenly in the last few weeks. It is important to remember that there could be other explanations for your symptoms which are not cancer and you will only know for sure what the diagnosis is once you have had these important tests and results.  The hardest thing really is this long wait for answers and it is a time when your mind can go into overdrive and it is normal to feel a bit restless or anxious and I thought I would share with you these helpful tips to help you cope while waiting for important news.

Other members of our community may have had similar symptoms before and I hope that they will pop by and share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that you get some definite answers soon and that it all turns out to be nothing too concerning.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi

i am menopausal & suddenly now under 2ww for gynae unsure what exactly… bowel was cleared thank goodness but now he’s scanning pelvis & abdomen today. Unsure how long for answers but clearly there are concerns or I wouldn’t have been given this mri so quickly xx

  • Hi

what happened with the ultrasounds you had due to post menopausal bleeding and pain you referred to in original post a few months ago? Glad your bowel was cleared and really hope today’s scans go OK and you are getting some pain relief for your symptoms.

i am 57 with heavy post menopausal bleeding, pelvic and stomach pain and bloating. It’s not great but have scan and biopsy on Thursday.

    xx

  • Hello

Until recently after biopsies were cleared, I had no further tests.
Saw gynae consultant 9 days ago he had concerns so no ultrasounds- straight to mri…then yesterday get the call offering me those mri scans today!

I go & ask today what happens with results & get told report being done asap going straight to the consultant to review this week…

fingers crossed for your scan with biopsy Thursday- that’s good you’ll get further answers straight away then have to wait for the biopsy’s…

    love C Xx
