I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis and all that you've been through. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious about the request for the MRI that you had earlier this week and what these areas of concern on your liver might actually be. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for the results and whatever the news, the team are able to offer you some reassurance about the next steps in your treatment. 

We know that for many people this period of waiting and uncertainty can be difficult. If it would help to talk with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to offer any advice, information and support they can.

The MRI showed metastases in my liver.

I am fairly devastated. Even my Radiologist friend was crying when she told me.

This puts me at grade 4C now which.means I am incurable and the rate of spread since surgery is just 4 months. I am very concerned that this is the beginning of the end.

I'm so very sorry to hear that you were given the news that there are metastases in  your liver. Hearing the news that the cancer has spread and is incurable is such difficult news to receive and I hope that you're being well supported by loved ones as you begin to come to terms with this. 

Do you know what the plan is now? Will you have an appointment with the Oncologist before your treatment is due to start at the end of this month? Hopefully you will have a good response to whatever treatment they offer you. 

If it would help to talk with one of our nurses don't be afraid to give them a call next week. You can always call your specialist cancer nurse as well if you feel that you have questions or need to talk things through with them. 

I know that this is a very difficult time for you at the moment. Try to take each day as it comes and don't look too far ahead into the future as that will leave you feeling more worried. And certainly please don't use the internet to try to find information as that will most definitely leave you more anxious.

It's not yet known if these mets were there before my surgery as haemangiomas were reported on my first CT scan, but that could be a misdiagnosis.

My Radiologist friend has requested the original CT scan to double check this.

There won't be a plan until after the MDT next Wednesday. I expect to hear Thursday

I do feel doomed now. My mother died of metastatic liver cancer which was from colon cancer.

My sister had colon cancer at 32 but has been NED 40 years with no chemo!

My father died of pancreatic cancer at 80.

Healthy all his life until then.

I will have to see what they offer.

Dread another op or bowel obstruction or mets to bones or brain.

Will be considering going to Dignitas.

It's strange because I currently feel so well.

It's hard to imagine getting deathly ill and weak again and being in terrible pain as my mother and father were.
