8cm Complex Ovarian Cyst with CA125 of 51 - Absolutely terrified!!

I posted on here a few days ago after I found out unexpectedly that I had a large complex ovarian cyst. The consultant thinks it could a dermoid cyst but can't determine this for sure and is sending me for an MRI scan. In the meantime, my CA125 has come back raised at 51!!! I'm postmenopausal which just adds even more risk into the mix and I just feel like the odds are stacking up against me. I've had no symptoms and only got checked out because of a tiny amount of postmenopausal bleeding. I'm all over the place.

  • Well I had my scan 10 days ago full chest abdominal and pelvis CT with contrast. Just had an appointment through for 26th September to see the consultant. I am trying not to freak out but feel like it’s all a rush for a reason and that reason is going to be bad. How long were your journeys from start to finish mine began mid June. Is this normal feeling so quick ? Or have they see my scan and gone OMG.

  • My cyst was first discovered on 6th December last year. I had an MRI with contrast on 23rd December, got my results on 9th January and didn't see the consultant again until 15th May. I then had a pre-op appointment on 11th June and then had my surgery on 11th July. It's been 9 weeks now and I've still not had my histology results back. Different hospitals in different areas, no doubt do things on a different timescale. I was seen at three different hospitals during this time because my consultant worked across all three of them. X

  • My pathway is almost exactly the same as jembers apart from I had my pre op meeting with the surgeon in march. So yes I think most of us were 2 weeks or so between scan and results so I think that’s normal. I would have loved to have seen the surgeon in person for my results instead of a phone call, I had so many questions but had already hung up and didn’t see her for another two months.
keeping everything crossed for you. Ps I also had abdominal scan included when I wasn’t expecting it. 26th is not too far. Will be thinking of you x
