I just wanted to say we are thinking of you during this stressful time. I guess the MDT meeting was today and I hope that you get an appointment soon to find out exactly what is going on. It's completely normal to be scared when dealing with all this uncertainty at the moment and after having been through all these tests. 

Let us know what you find out - you are not alone though and many members of our community have been through this before and will hopefully come and say hello soon and share their stories with you. While you are waiting, as there is nothing harder than waiting for a diagnosis, I thought I would share with you our helpful tips to help you cope while waiting for news.

Hi I got diagnosed with rectal cancer on 14th of August, I have oncologist meeting on weds this week to find out the treatment plan of chemo then surgery as I understand so far , im scared but positive , the doctor sounded positive its not spread anywhere , I keep reading of people with stoma and its something I know nothing about and scares me , thanks for listening. 

Morning I was just about to den yiu a message was just thinking of you.  Hope you are ok? My daughter has struggled mainly with tiredness she is taking steroids which cause insomnia and her fingers are tingling, she goes back Monday blood tests and to see her oncologist, she may ask to reduce the amount.  She really has struggled looking after her daughter.  I have gone down with a rotten cold so need to keep my distance so Beth does not get it.  Have a good weekend, have you any plans? The tingling is so hard to explain cause it sounds like it's nothing to someone that hasnt experienced it but it has been one of the worst side effects I've had, I suppose its because I have the chemo through a canula in my hand , both hands have had it now and both have to have it again, I also have tingling in my throat for first wk and half ish after chemo , it must be really hard for your daughter with a 3 year old , awww bless you that's last thing you need at the minute but yeah I'm mindful of not being around too many people and my friends keep away if poorly, cold is something everyone seems to have at the minute, hope your feeling better soon look after yourself while you're also looking after your daughter, im out for brunch this morn and shopping, my life just seems to be tablets and coffee dates lol ..sending lots of love to you all xxx

Hi how's your daughter doing? And how are you are you feeling better? Went for 3rd chemo yesterday hand arm so sore and tingling both hands worst so far, feet too which is a first and throat not great! Few days of rest for me..lots of love xx

Hi yes you rest up, I just can’t imagine what yiu and my daughter are going through with chemo.  Beth had her second round on Wednesday they only gave her 2 drugs this time, she did have to go to A&E as she was very poorly Wednesday evening they gave her antibiotics through a drip in case of sepsis, it might have been she was dehydrated.  She is feeling better now.  Week of rest then her third round.  I still have this cold saw my GP Monday I have been signed off for 2 weeks my mental health I have been struggling.  I think this cold made me realise I am not taking care of myself.  You have a lovely weekend, I hope you feel better soon.  I so feel for you and my daughter anyone going through this, it’s so cruel.  Lots of love xx

Awww bless her , how many rounds of chemo is she having? The 22nd Nov is my last one , then I've had in mind the scans and surgery which I am trying to put to the back of my mind at minute , has your daughter any idea of dates for surgery ?  It sounds like it's taking its toll on you too , must be so hard tho with looking after your daughter and grand daughter , hard to look after yourself aswell ..lots of love xx

She will have 6 rounds of chemo, 2 down and 4 to go.  Her last day of chemo is Christmas Day.  Then I guess it’s scans to see if the tumour has shrunk enough then surgery xx

Morning, my daughter has struggled with the chemo.  She has round 3 on Wednesday hopefully all going well.  She is scared to have it, but she will then be half way through, 3 to go.  So you’re nearly done with chemo? That’s brillant xx

Yeah my next one is 22nd Nov that's the last one , then wait for scan ..im just slightly infront of your daughter , I started today reading into stomas , iv tried not to think about it so far and I haven't asked anyone either not sure what to think at the min..bless her nearly half way there tho it's slow but we are getting there xx

Roll on the 22 November.  You are getting there which is brillant.  So you will then have surgery? Xx

That's the plan yeah but I don't know when , they mentioned scan round about 18th Dec then I assume surgery will be just after Xmas xx

The scan to see if the tumour has shrunk? How big was your tumour? Xx

Yeah to see if shrunk , my tumour is 30 mm ..I had to look back on paperwork I'd forgot the size ! What size is your daughters? Xx

Yes she is not in any pain now from the tumour no bleeding so a positive the chemo is working x

Morning how are you? Did you have a good weekend.  It’s my granddaughter 3 birthday today, we had a party for her yesterday.  My daughter is in good spirits, no chemo has given her the time to recover physically and mentally.  So hopefully next week when she has chemo she copes better.  Your last one this week? Good morning I'm so glad to hear the rest is helping and you all had a nice time for your grand daughters birthday , nice to take your minds off things for a while , and yes fingers crossed she copes better next time , think again its just a case of no choice get on with it !
