I just wanted to say we are thinking of you during this stressful time. I guess the MDT meeting was today and I hope that you get an appointment soon to find out exactly what is going on. It's completely normal to be scared when dealing with all this uncertainty at the moment and after having been through all these tests. 

Let us know what you find out - you are not alone though and many members of our community have been through this before and will hopefully come and say hello soon and share their stories with you. While you are waiting, as there is nothing harder than waiting for a diagnosis, I thought I would share with you our helpful tips to help you cope while waiting for news.

Hi I got diagnosed with rectal cancer on 14th of August, I have oncologist meeting on weds this week to find out the treatment plan of chemo then surgery as I understand so far , im scared but positive , the doctor sounded positive its not spread anywhere , I keep reading of people with stoma and its something I know nothing about and scares me , thanks for listening. 

My daughter had her appointment with her oncologist who has said the cancer has not spread to lymph nodes but they can see a small nodule in her bowel.  She will have 3 months of aggressive chemo through a portal under her chest.will be 2 weeks in then 1 week off.  Going to be hard for her especially with a 3 year old. X 

That is alot for you all to take in , when I went to hospital last fri for my first chemo I had a girl nxt to me 33 with 3 young kids and a disabled husband and she was so upbeat and chatty bless her while going through chemo and radiotherapy , im on another chat too and one lady said to remember it's only temporary which I've tried to take on board, how has your daughter taken the appt today ? When will her treatment start ? Its good it's not spread xx

She is positive her oncologist has made a decision to tackle this in a way they would not normally do.  Mainly down to her age.  She is the first person her age she has ever treated for this type of cancer.  Hope it works x

So it sounds like because she's young they are going to blast it quickly , which is good rather than drawn out , they def know what they are on with , I keep saying we have no other choice than to get on with it even tho it's the hardest situation, my friends keep saying I will look bk in 6 months and it will be a distant memory ! I've had a good day today so I'm going to focus on that for tomorrow...we will get through this xx

Yes deffo sooner the better ! My bowel movements are bk to some sort of normal it feels to me that means it's working hopefully , my chemo is thru canula for 2 hrs and then 2 wks of capecitabine tablets , how does your daughters work again? I know you said aggressive chemo xx

Sounds like your treatment is positive.  She is having a port fitted on her chest where the chemo goes into.  I believe it’s 2 weeks 2 days a week then she has a week off, this will be for 3 months x she is at the hospital now for more bloods and a face ti face chat about the port being fitted x

Hello how are you? My daughter had the port put in today.  Chemo starts Monday feeling very anxious about it, concerned how she is going to feel with the side effects xx

Hi I'm really good today my first cycle finished this morn , I feel fine and I'm going to enjoy my wkend and put next cycle to the back of my mind for now , know its a long way to go ! There's that many chemo types I think but they gave me anti sickness tab anti diarohea tabs etc and they did say your not supposed to feel overly poorly ! I don't know if I will feel worse as I go into cycle two ..no idea ..she will get numbers to ring if anything not right so fingers crossed she's fine xx

My daughter’s chemo has been delayed by a week as they are waiting for her results from her enzymes , not quite sure what this means.  I just hope the delay affects her recovery from cancer x

Hi I remember when I went to see consultant before I started and they said its to check something was right to start chemo but I never looked into it ..and obvs need to have bloods done before each cycle so no I'm not sure either , bit of a *** waiting again but they know what they are on with , she's in the best hands lots of love xx

Morning, her treatment delayed will start next Wednesday.  Had to wait for her blood test to come back check enzymes as it is such a strong chemo.  Results all good.  Hope your appointment goes well, let me know how you get on xx

Hi my appt went well was only there half hr , consultant was happy with me and how chemo has gone , I don't have to go bk to Sheffield now as he said he will just ring me before each cycle so I can go to medical centre near me now so that's easier , I had bloods done and chemo cycle 2 starts fri morn xx
