  • Hi Beaumont44,

I just wanted to say we are thinking of you during this stressful time. I guess the MDT meeting was today and I hope that you get an appointment soon to find out exactly what is going on. It's completely normal to be scared when dealing with all this uncertainty at the moment and after having been through all these tests.

Let us know what you find out - you are not alone though and many members of our community have been through this before and will hopefully come and say hello soon and share their stories with you. While you are waiting, as there is nothing harder than waiting for a diagnosis, I thought I would share with you our helpful tips to help you cope while waiting for news.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi I got diagnosed with rectal cancer on 14th of August, I have oncologist meeting on weds this week to find out the treatment plan of chemo then surgery as I understand so far , im scared but positive , the doctor sounded positive its not spread anywhere , I keep reading of people with stoma and its something I know nothing about and scares me , thanks for listening.

  • Not sure I sent the reply my daughter will find out in the 17th September x

  • I think I just feel like I want to get on with it , im obviously worried as to how I cope with the chemo but time will tell , at this point for your daughter I think is the worst waiting is horrible , your mind just runs wild , everyone I've been in touch with said its definitely better once you know what your dealing with ,most polyps aren't cancerous so hopefully your daughter will get good news x

  • Do you have a date when your treatment starts? X

  • The doctor said 2 wks so I assume il get a letter, I go back to see him on the weds and start it on the Friday, so looking like 20th Sept x

  • Hi how are you and your daughter ? I got letter and its as expected starts on the 20th im quite scared now , just hope it's not too hard on me x

  • Hi my daughter went back in Wednesday so they have done the biopsy again, just waiting now she has appt on the 17th September with her consultant to discuss her treatment snd find out if it is cancer.  I am extremely anxious my daughter now just wa ts to know if it’s cancer.  You must be scared I would be but hopefully it all goes well for you, my daughter is only 26 I hate it that she is going through this.  I will be thinking of you, please stay in touch to let me k ke how you are doing, I will let you know once we have some news xx

  • Hi how are you? My daughter got the call today we were dreading, she has stage2 colorectal cancer, appt with the oncologist on Saturday to discuss the next steps xx

  • Hi oh no I'm so sorry to hear that , how has she taken the news ? And yourself? I'm literally just sat reading the chemo plan again , hopefully it's localised for your daughter like mine , not spread anywhere . At least not a long wait to discuss it and get a plan in place , same again it's so weird for me saying to myself I've got cancer when there's nothing wrong with me ! Sending lots of love xx

  • Hi to everyone here. Been helpful to read your experiences and I wish you all strength and healing. I believe I have symptoms of colon cancer, GP has done bloods, calprotectin and h pylori tests (all negative) and hopefully getting fit test result on Monday at GP appointment. I haven't been referred yet but think I should have been with 4 weeks of abdominal pain, constipation, sciatica backache and months of fatigue.

    The waiting is awful.

  • Keep pushing your GP for a referral, my daughter has had symptoms for a very long time, her GP surgery did nothing.  Things could have been very different for her.  Hope things go ok for you.
