Post menopause bleed

Hi i was at work when I started bleeding it was like a haemorrhage it felt like your waters breaking when you go into labour I was absolutely covered and it ran down my legs I haven’t had a period for 14 years so this was not only painful to the extent that I nearly collapsed  but also very unexpected I contacted my doctor and she has fast tracked me for an internal exam now although I only bled very heavy for six days I am continually spotting it’s been ten days now I’m feeling very tired and my back is very sore I haven’t had a smear test for 7 years as got diagnosed with vaginal atrophy ( no stretch within the vagina ) so this test is worrying me almost as much as them finding cancer my doctor has warned me that it might be painful because of this sorry if this is going on a bit but I am quite scared and was hoping for a bit of reassurance really thanks to anyone who replies x

  • Hi sorry you are going through such a worrying time. I too am waiting for a hysteroscopy and biopsy under general anaesthetic to check whether I have endometrial cancer or not. I was extremely anxious when I went for my first appt as an out patient and asked if I could have a general anaesthetic. The consultant and nurses were lovely. Don’t be frightened about it. Just tell them how you feel and ask for the GA. Good luck and keep us informed.

  • Thankyou for that I didn’t know you can ask for a ga so will definitely do that I didn’t put in the post that I’m 57 and went into menapause at 28 and I started my period early at eight years old according to Google the earlier you start the higher the risk of developing womb cancer
