Waiting Biopsy results

Hi everyone

Very new to this site.. it's currently 4:42am and im laid in bed with my mind racing.

I had a sharp burning pain a few week ago coming from my upper outer breast area which made me have a feel around.. i found a lump straight away from the same area. I went to my GP as soon as i got back from my Holiday and got reffered for 2 week wait. I went to my appointment yesterday and i had ultrasound test to which then turned into a mammagram and biopsy.. she did two areas where the lump is and just abover under my armpit.

I then saw the consultant who was not positive at all and told me to start thinking of the worse.

Im 33 years old with a 2 year old and not handling it very good at all. Please can someone talk to me.. give me positive stories or breast cancer.

Or did this similar situation ever happen to anyone before and the results turned out benign? Im thinking of my daughter more than anything, she needs her mummy.

Thank you for taking your time to reply.x

  • Hi GL91,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I can understand your concerns and I know it's never easy waiting for results. You've done the right thing in getting this checked and it's good to hear that things have moved quickly since then so that you haven't had too long to wait.

Hopefully you'll get the results soon, and if there are any next steps to follow then these can be dealt with one step at a time. However try not to assume anything at this point. It's easier said than done, but take things a day at a time and try to keep busy and focus on other things as much as possible. I know that this is difficult.

There will be many others here who have been through or are going through something similar, so hopefully you'll get more replies soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • Hi, sorry to hear about your experience. I’m sort of in a similar boat, I have my procedure booked for Friday and then I too, will be waiting for results, like you. It’s hard, isn’t it, not to imagine the worst, but please try to be positive. Treatments have come a long way and I’m sure you’ll get through it and will see your daughter grow up. Sending love.

  • Thank you so much for your positive reply! Im up and down at minute which is to be expected. The wait is really awful.. i feel like it is torture!

What is your symptoms if you dont mind me asking?

  • Hi, I’m about 4 years into menopause and at Easter, I started bleeding. Not spotting, but not heavy, every day for about 10 days. Then it stopped for a month, started again, stopped, started… at the same time, I had intermittent shooting pains in my left pelvic area and just recently, I’ve felt like I had a kind of water balloon in my pubic area, as if, if you popped it, water would flood out. Just last night, at 3am ish, I went to the loo and a big blood clot came out, so I am now terrified about that. I saw the Dr on Thursday and she confirmed that the back of my uterus lining is thicker than it should be. They’ll know more after Friday, when I have my D&C. Everyone keeps telling me not to think about it, it could be nothing, cross bridges when we come to them etc. I feel like no one will let me talk about what I am scared of, don’t know if you have had this too. Take care and good luck to us both xx

  • I feel the same way about it all. Its such a scary time! The waiting is just the worse isnt it, i feel frustrated and just want to start something now if it is that. Trying to keep my self busy and the littlest things just set me off crying. I would not wish it on anyone x
