Post menopause womb thickening diagnosis

Hello

I am a 59 year old woman who has had a womb lining issue diagnosed through a recent heart check up. I am waiting for a 2 week referral appointment on 20th May.

i lost my sister to breast cancer 4 years ago, followed by my mum to bladder cancer 6 weeks later, so I worry the genetic odds are high. I still have a dependent child at home who has mental health issues so the implication of being diagnosed with cancer is tough and I have no one to talk it through with or help with child care if I get sick.. Also I like many watched cancer take my loved ones and still grieve. I have also feared dying since I lost my close family and no idea what would happen to my daughter.

Any experience of what the tests might be and prognosis might help. Hoping of course not cancerous. My brain is full,

Thank you good people x

  • Hi, currently going through a similar situation but mine was post menopausal bleeding. I am just about to turn 53.

So far I have had abdominal and vaginal ultrasound, then hysteroscopy under general anaesthetic where they took biopsies and removed a polyp which they found. My endometrial lining was thickened to about 6mm i think which my consultant said was fine due to me being on HRT. Pathology showed no cancer or pre-cancer. Yay

However, due to some unexplained scarring on my uterus and the fact that despite them removing the polyp over 5 weeks ago I am still having bleeding and cramps so I am now booked to have a total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo and oophorectomy on 20th May. It is scary all this waiting so totally understand where you are coming from.

    Wishing you good results

  • Thank you for your reply. I am sorry to hear your story. So much to go through. I am happy to hear though not cancerous. Sounds like you are suffering with things and I hope the procedure next week helps. I will see what the score is. 18mm apparently as a lining thickness so guess that needs review.

All the best for next week. Thank you again for taking the time to reply.

  • your welcome and good luck and keep us posted
