I’m scared that I have lung cancer

I was called by my GP today to say that a recent chest x-Ray has shown a shadow on my lung. I have an ache in my left side under my ribs and have palpitations. I’m 51, fit and healthy otherwise and thought my symptoms we’re menopause related.

I have to have a CT scan and have an agonising 2 week wait for that.

i have a 12 year old and a 15 year old and I’m terrified that I may have to give them horrible news soon.

wondering if anyone has been through similar and could give me advice on how to get through these next two weeks?

would be very grateful. Thank you

  • Same here. I had a cough for a month and coughed up blood twice. My X-ray came clear but having a CT scan on tue. I have two sons 16 and 13.

  • Hi there,

Good luck for Tuesday. I’m thinking of you and your sons. This is such a hard time. I hope you have good family and friends to give you support. I rang the MacMillan nurse helpline on Saturday and they were so helpful. The cancer research uk one is closed over the bank holiday but they are open all through. I found them so positive and she gave me lots of positivity.
