Bewildered

Approx a year ago,I  was woken up by my first ever nosebleed, I passed a large clot. It was horrible, yet I didn't think much of it, until  a few weeks later when I developed a very painful almost vice like sensation in my leg, when out walking my dog. I had also started to feel unwell with terrible fatigue and feeling cold all the time. I went to Dr who thought I had a blood clot, D-diner resukt also high. Scans show no blood clot, yet drs at hospital talk to me about having triggered a cancer pathway protocol, due to high D-diner and absence of clot. I  am continuing to have  regular nosebleeds and still feeling unwell. My leg remains swollen and then other leg starts to swell. High CRP levels. Referred to Rheumatology , tested for Lupus. Haematology refused to see me , prescribed iron tablets. Symptoms continued.

I am still having fatigue and start getting unexplained bruises on the back of my legs and hands. I get referred by my GP to Oncology as she suspects I may have a  form of Lymphoma. CT scans show no sign of Lymphoma. Symptoms continue, nosebleeds now increasing 2-3 daily. Still fatigue. Still bruisings. In Oct last year I was admitted to hospital for tests for severe abdominal pain. Blood tests showed high CRP yet no sign of infection. Pain was so bad I was biting down on my pillow..Pain went.

My symptoms have iremaibed the same and recentky GP rrereferred me to Haematology , doubtful that he will agree to see me. Thought I may have a bug GP phoned the following week to say that she " had not got a clue what was wrong with me..and would be helpful if Haematology would see you ", . . A week ago I received a text message from Haematology - Oncology giving me an appointment. I don't know what to think anymore.

I am glad to be able to share this.

  • Hello Daisymeadow

I'm sorry to hear about all you've been through over the past year. it sounds like it's been a real rollercoaster trying to get to the bottom of the cause of your symptoms and understandably it's frustrating. Hopefully, the appointment you have organised with the haematologist might shed some light on things.

If you think it may be helpful to chat with one of our nurses ahead of your appointment you're welcome to call them. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information, and support they can as well as help you think about the kinds of questions you might want to ask the specialist. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch Daisymedaow and let us know how you get on. I hope that you have some answers soon and that the team can set you on the right pathway to improving your health.

    Best wishes,
