Sorry to hear about your wife, it must be a really stressful time for you both. 

Being a bit blunt but I'm 99% sure that private health insurance wouldn't help at this point. Your wife has already been referred by her GP so in essence it's an existing condition which wouldn't be covered. If you can afford it, you could get tests etc done privately and then get referred back to the NHS for treatment.

private healthcare wouldn’t touch it now it would have had to have been in place before Gp appointment and referal but good luck , hopefully there won’t be a diagnosis but a good idea to start a private medical anyway for future

Hi Cartoonhead. We have been on the cancer pathway too and are awaiting a diagnosis too. I have had scans and a MDT but still waiting. We had one consultation cancelled too. We now have a private consultation in place. My husband has partial health insurance. I am hoping to use the consultation to ask questions and possibly book a biopsy. I wish you and your wife well. As we know private care is very expensive.

Hi...So I already have private medical cover and was diagnosed with AML 7 weeks ago. I am lucky as I chose not to use it for a number of reasons and have had the most outstanding care under UCLH...the thing with private is that if you need to be blue lighted you have to go through AandE...and your NHS records are not automatically transferred. Good luck with everything

Hi my nhs notes are being transferred to private. I’m aware that there is no emergency cover on private care. My mental health is being compromised the longer I wait for the NHS.

The NHS is pretty Quick regarding cancer , i went to my GP on the 21st of December, i had all the tests ( having a fit test , seeing a consultant, having a colonoscopy, having a CT scan, and having an operation on the 11th of march ) bearing in mind that we had the Christmas and new year in between that as well . 

I wish you well. The scans were quick but since then we have heard nothing. My GP has been in touch with Urology - nothing. Our original appointment was cancelled. MDT will be two weeks this week

Could it be they are not overly concerned with what they have found with the scans ? Do you have another appointment yet ? 
my MDT meet every week and they ring me on the same day with there course of action 

I know it’s stressful waiting to find out what’s happening
