Hi, my 81 year old mum has had a cough for a few months. She had antibiotics at Christmas and it cleared up . She had chest pains last eeek and the cough came back so I took her to an and e . They did bold tests and and X-ray initially. The X-ray was clear but the bloods had a marker for a clot so she was sent for a ct scan on her chest. An anomaly on both lungs showed up but the doctor thought it was an infection and gave her an antibiotic telling her to come back to get checked in 6 weeks. Today ( Wednesday) she has received a call from the secretary of the thoracic surgeon asking her to come in for an appointment next Thursday afternoon. They said to bring someone with her and to set aside a couple of hours. She didn't ask any other questions. She is otherwise a very heathy lady. We are all distraught wondering why she has been called in and are assuming the worst. I imagine a 2 hour appointment will involve more tests but I am worried what we may be told. I'm told the thoracic clinic only happens once a week hence the waiting time. I would be so grateful if anyone could help with any further information.. the waiting and not knowing is torture
thank you
