Swollen Supraclavicular Nodes

Hi, I’m 50 and have a lump in my left armpit. I went to see the gp last week who said it’s a movable lump, 4cm in size and has referring me for an ultrasound scan. When I got home i realised I hadn’t shown him my neck. On both sides my supraclavicular nodes are both swollen and noticeable. I took a picture and sent it to my gp, and he’s arranged a telephone appointment with me this Wednesday. Has anyone else experienced issues with their Supraclavicular nodes and what was the outcome please? im tired and waking up at night in a sweat but not drenching - assumed it was menopause related although that had stopped as I had started HRT couple of years ago. Any advice help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks

  • Hi I have swollen supraclavical nodes on my left side, first noticed in dec, went to doctor , bloods showed no infections. has a US showed a node of 11mm with irregular outline and increased vascularity. to be repated in 8 weeks, he wasnt qualified to do a biopsy so none taken. The 8 week wait is messing with my head. meanwhile 1 lump is now 3 with an additional growth that doesnt feel like a node. I am bricking itbut hopefully only another 3 weeks to go .

  • Hi MrsLilly I can understand why you’re so frustrated and the wait feels like forever. Would you consider going back to the gp, to show them the new lumps and request a biopsy? Seems a long time to have to wait. Keep us posted and sending positive vibes.

My gp rang me this morning - he assumed I had one lump in my neck and said he thinks they’re just fatty lumps (the one in my armpit and in my neck) but I explained I have matching neck lumps either side, identical. Surely they can’t both be fatty lumps? But strange. Anyway i hope he’s right. Seeing him first thing so he can see them, so will see what he says.

  • i went back and saw gp she was lovely, she wanted me to be seen within 2 weeks so sent a referral to ENT their response was that because ive had an US under a different team and they plan to see me again then they wont see me. So I have to wait it out, GP was furious, Ive told them if this proves to be anything sinister the the *** will hit the fan.

  • Little update - saw the gp this morning about the swollen nodes above my clavical area. He says he wants them both scanned as well as the lump in my armpit now and hopes the breast screening clinic will do them all next Wednesday. He said they could be fatty lumps but as they’re symmetrical on both sides he doubts it. He’s also booked me in for full bloods this weekend. His demeanour seemed to change today once he saw my neck. He said they’re about 4-5cm in size. Roll on a few weeks and we should all be in a better place. Sending you both positivity and happy vibes. I’m hear if you want or need to chat anytime x

  • I'll have my fingers crossed for next Wednesday for you! Is your neck swollen as well, can you see the lumps on your neck without having to feel for them? X

  • Thanks so much laurenjess I really appreciate that. Neck isn’t swollen, just have these lymph nodes which are large - you can definitely see them without needing to feel for them. X

  • good luck , my neck has a swelling which can be easily seen and the nodes are within, was 1 in dec now i think possibly 4 or 5 ...

  • Mine can't be seen unless you feel for it, I just keep hoping I'll wake up and it'll be gone but that's wishful thinking unfortunately x

  • O me the same, every morning I check and nope they are still there.

  • Fingers crossed for us all, hope you both keep me updated and I'll let you know how I get on at my US x

  • Hi Laurenjess and MrsLilly how are you both holding up? I’ve had my bloods done and thankfully nothing scary showed up, so that’s good. I’ve got my scan at the breast clinic this afternoon and I’m feeling pretty nervous now. My neck nodes have swollen even more and I’m feeling unwell. My neck area is aching too. I feel rundown. Praying it’s just an infection they can treat and nothing more serious. Will let you know how it goes. Take care and hope you’re both ok. X

  • Hey, glad nothing serious came up in your blood, that's a good sign, fingers crossed for your US this afternoon, please let me know what happens, I ended up in a&e and had a blood test and chest x ray which all came back clear which is good but I feel like my node has grown so just waiting for my US x
