Swollen Supraclavicular Nodes

Hi, I’m 50 and have a lump in my left armpit. I went to see the gp last week who said it’s a movable lump, 4cm in size and has referring me for an ultrasound scan. When I got home i realised I hadn’t shown him my neck. On both sides my supraclavicular nodes are both swollen and noticeable. I took a picture and sent it to my gp, and he’s arranged a telephone appointment with me this Wednesday. Has anyone else experienced issues with their Supraclavicular nodes and what was the outcome please? im tired and waking up at night in a sweat but not drenching - assumed it was menopause related although that had stopped as I had started HRT couple of years ago. Any advice help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks

  • Currently going though the same but only 1 of my supraclavicular nodes is swollen, I'm just waiting for an ultrasound, I'm so worried x

  • Hi  thanks for replying, I'm so sorry you’re going through this. It’s nerve wracking isn’t it. When’s your ultrasound? Mine is on 6th March. Sending lots of positive vibes, please let me know how you get on. Wishing you all the luck in the world. Do you have any other symptoms at all?

  • I've not had a letter through yet which is annoying, I just want to know what is going on, sick of living in fear at the moment and fingers crossed everything comes back okay for you! I feel like I have a bit of chest pain and breathlessness but I'm unsure if it's all my head at the minute

  • Oh gosh I understand exactly what you’re saying. I’m the same. You try to be positive but find yourself analysing every little thing. Do keep in touch and let me know how you’re getting on. Fingers crossed to hear when your scan is this week. When did you see the gp? I saw mine Monday and received the letter on the Friday.

  • Had my letter through this morning and it isn't until the 20th March, so another 3 weeks of worrying for me unfortunately! I will sure keep you updated with what happens though, please keep me updated and fingers crossed everything is okay for you!

  • Sorry you’re having to wait another three weeks. It’s the waiting and the not knowing that drives you crazy isn’t it. I’m trying to work but it’s so hard to stay focused. I’ll let you know how things go next Wednesday at my ultrasound scan. I‘m due a call from my gp tomorrow to discuss the supraclavicula swellings. I’m feeling unwell, exhausted, my shoulders and neck ache a bit and I’ve had a cough for quite a while. Just feel low. Trying not to get emotional as I don’t want to worry my 7 year old. Take care.

  • I'm exactly the same, I can't concentrate on anything at the moment, I feel like I'm making myself worse by worrying, also forgot to ask are your nodes moveable when you touch them or are they unmoveable?

  • They’re soft and smooth (which I imagine is a good thing) but don’t necessarily move around. I’m hoping they’re just fatty lumps. How about you?

  • Hi I have swollen supraclavical nodes on my left side, first noticed in dec, went to doctor , bloods showed no infections. has a US showed a node of 11mm with irregular outline and increased vascularity. to be repated in 8 weeks, he wasnt qualified to do a biopsy so none taken. The 8 week wait is messing with my head. meanwhile 1 lump is now 3 with an additional growth that doesnt feel like a node. I am bricking itbut hopefully only another 3 weeks to go .

  • Hi MrsLilly I can understand why you’re so frustrated and the wait feels like forever. Would you consider going back to the gp, to show them the new lumps and request a biopsy? Seems a long time to have to wait. Keep us posted and sending positive vibes.

My gp rang me this morning - he assumed I had one lump in my neck and said he thinks they’re just fatty lumps (the one in my armpit and in my neck) but I explained I have matching neck lumps either side, identical. Surely they can’t both be fatty lumps? But strange. Anyway i hope he’s right. Seeing him first thing so he can see them, so will see what he says.
