Hi Bubbles,

I am sorry to hear about your concerns. Although this may sound frightening, this is fairly normal for any referral to the breast clinic. Most are referred under the urgent, 2 week pathway too, so try not to panic. Not all lumps are cancerous. Many turn out to be benign cysts, Fibroadenoma, or due to hormonal changes. It is a fact that only 20% of those referred to the breast clinic will get a cancer diagnosis.

it’s weird because it isn’t a lump, it’s my nipple it has gone bright red, itchy, sore and prickling through the entire breast. I can’t have any material from clothes touch it. Antibiotic cream hasn’t worked. Nor steroids nor anti fungal. I don’t think I’ve ever been so stressed out :(

Hi Bubbles,

Ouch - That must be most uncomfortable. Most of us would agree that this is one of the most stressful times of a cancer journey. It becomes much easier to cope, once you know what you are dealing with. Try to keep busy in the meantime, whether with work or pleasure, as this helps the time to pass.
