Hi I'm new here and so worried I have a lump on my neck just down from my ear the doctor said its about 1cm it isn't painful and i dont have any other symptoms it does move if I prod it with my fingers when I tilt head I have my ent appointment next week I'm just so worried and constantly feel sick and drained fearing the worst

  • Hello Lucy73 and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling worried about the lump on your neck. It's completely understandable to feel anxious in this situation, but try not to panic, many lumps in the neck are benign and not a cause for concern, though it's good that you're getting it checked out by an ENT especialist.

Until your appointment, try to take care of yourself and manage your stress. Engage in activities that help you relax, such as deep breathing exercises, meditation, or spending time with loved ones. Distraction can also be helpful; focusing on activities or hobbies you enjoy can take your mind off worrying thoughts.

I hope all goes well for you, Lucy73 and once you know more please come back and give us an update.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi lucy 73 … i am in the same situation as you, have copied my post from the hello board….….Good morning…. Found this chat and finding it reassurring, have a referral for 2WW to Head and Neck cancer for a lump in neck which is around the size of a 10p piece, GP was lovely and said it is the lymph node but could be reactive….. no recent illness, Gp asked about  drenching night sweats, which I don’t have but since the lump appeared  I have been really hot…. After being normal freezing in bed!  Sweating a little but not drenching…. Anyway not long to wait and hopefully it will be a fatty lump, any advice or own similar experiences would be great to hear from H

  • Hi guys, im in very similar situation . Not really sure where to start. I carry a BRCA1 gene for which I have had a double mastectomy and ovary and tube removal. This was all some time ago now. I have recently had some digestive issues and been diagnosed with achalasia and most recently has my gall bladder romoved about 8 months ago. Just before xmas I noticed a swollen Lumph node on left side of my neck. Bloods were taken and no sign of infection detected. I went for an ultra sound before xmas where 3 nodes were detected one measuring 1.1 cm with irregular outline and increased vascularity. No biopsy was carried out. the suggestion was to wait a further 8 weeks and repeat the ultrasound. now this weekend left side of neck has swollen quite a lot enough to fill palm of hand, and the node has grown and i can feel a number of other lumps within the area.

  • Hi i have my initial appt with ENT on monday, via 2WW referral, seen only 1 week after referral so can’t fault the process, am still hopefully that my lump is nothing and more reactive post covid 2 months ago….. fingers crossed.

  • My GP tried to do a fast track follow up to ENT their response was that since I've been seen by another team with a view to follow up in 8 weeks then they wont see me. Meanwhile I've gone from 1 round nodule to 3 , 1 of which feels bumpy.......only another 4 weeks to wait.So 3 months now since I found first node.

  • Hi how did your appointment go

  • I had a nasal camera to check out nose mouth snd upper throat and nothing seen, but agreed the lymph nodes are swollen in my neck so have to wait for USS and biopsy….. its the waiting that is the worse….. he did say it will be one of two things….reactive nodes post infection (although no infection markers in blood test) or the other…. So trying to still remain positive… but really just want to know.

  • Hi mine was the same the nasal camera showed nothing and he told me the exact same things I have my ultrasound and biopsy today fingers crossed we both have a reactive node and nothing more

  • Fingers crossed for us both.

  • How did you get on Lucy73? Hope it went ok.
