Brain Tumour symptoms

Hi

I’ll start off by stating that I have really bad health anxiety, hence why I’m on here :(

Two weeks ago I started with a headache whilst at work. I didn’t think much of it as I had recently started a diet and thought maybe it was sugar/caffeine withdrawal. Painkillers helped to ease it but once these started to wear off, it came back. The following Saturday I admitted myself to A&E as the headache was persistent and I had started to feel flushed and faint also.

I was seen by neurology who did the standard tests and said all my observations were fine. One of the doctors mentioned an MRI but this was not done and I was given migraine tablets to take away with me.

That night, I woke with a really bad headache and my whole body was shaking/vibrating uncontrollably so I rung 111 for advice.
I spoke to the out of hours GP who made me an appointment with my own GP who I saw later that day. He prescribed me anti depressants and referred me for a head MRI but said he wasn’t concerned.

This was a week ago, I am still getting the headaches and have pins and needles in my left hand that sometimes spread up my arm. I have woke up a number of times to pins and needles down my left side also. After searching online, I have seen that these can all be side effects of the anti depressant but I am convinced I have a brain tumour.

also, to add, for the past couple of years I have had episodes of dizziness/vertigo with no apparent reason.

I don’t know why I’m reaching out on here…I suppose in the hope that someone else has experienced these things and they have turned out to be harmless and just anxiety.

I just want this MRI appointment to come through, I’m sick with worry!
for reference I’m 35 F

  • Hello Tasha89,

I'm sorry to hear that you're going through such a challenging time.

As many here can tell you, it's not uncommon for anxiety to manifest physical symptoms, and side effects of medications can vary among individuals. Many people in this community have shared similar experiences and I hope you'll get to talk with some of them soon, but it's crucial to discuss your concerns with your doctors, they can provide guidance, reassurance, and ensure you get the necessary care.

Wishing you the best as you navigate through this, and I hope your MRI appointment brings clarity.

    All the best,
