I am sorry to hear that you have been experiencing right sided pain and that it feels sore and bruised. I am not sure if this is to be expected but it would not do any harm to flag this with your medical team so make sure they are aware of it and ask whether there is anything they could suggest which might help. I hope that despite experiencing this pain that your recovery is going well and that you are not feeling too bad 6 weeks post surgery.

I hope that you will hear from others here who have gone through this before and had the same surgery after a similar diagnosis. I've had a look on the forum for past relevant threads which might be of interest to you and found, for example, Judylee 's thread who had a similar diagnosis and surgery 6 months ago. Don't hesitate to respond if you wish to do so and share your story. Tommy01 also shared his Appendix Cancer story and I hope that you will hear from some of the members of our community who have been in a similar place before and that they will be able to offer insights into their own post-surgery experiences.

It's good news though that no further treatment is necessary but that they will be monitoring everything closely. 

I hope you will be able to talk to your GP or specialist soon and that you can bring up this pain you described and find out more about what may be causing this. I hope that the pain goes away soon and that you fully recover from the surgery.

Have read the recommended other people's stories, it has however made me worry as to whether a R Hemi should be done like Tommy who had similar experience to me. Is there a  particular criteria for this or Consultants preference?

I had a right hemi colectomy after an incidental finding of a cancerous tumour when I had my appendix removed. My surgery was laparoscopic, I had pain for the first few weeks, especially first thing in the morning. Your surgery, being open will probably take a bit longer before you are pain free. I am now a year on and still get a twinge every now and then, when I spoke with my consultant regarding this, he said it was normal and due to scar tissue. If you have any more questions, please ask.
