Mass found last thing I expected

Hi,

3 weeks ago I started with a random pain in my left lower belly, went to doctors was treated twice for a UTI, ended up in A&E with the pain told probably a ruptured cyst.

I had an ultrasound yesterday & today I was told my results, last thing I expected!

Arising from right adnexa extending into upper abdominal region, is a large 24 x 22 x 10 (cm) complex loculated mass.
Low level ground glass echoes & some internal vascularity noted.

I have an urgent appointment with gynae on 2nd Jan. I’m scared & worried. I’m 30 and a single parent to a 10 year old with a genetic disorder causing disability and andditional needs. I’m scared for her. Of course I don’t know what the mass is yet but you can’t help but think the worse, I’m mad at myself that I ignored symptoms thinking it was food I was eating making me bloated. Doctor said with the size of it, it could have been growing for a long time!  The pain I have in my left side is everything being pushed over from the mass.

  • Hello Jlouise25

I'm sorry to hear that you've been unwell and that some recent symptoms resulted in you going to A&E. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious ahead of your appointment with the gynaecologist in January.

We know that for many people this period of waiting for appointments and information can be really difficult and it's natural to have questions and concerns. Please do try to avoid searching Google for information as what happens most often is that you won't find answers for your particular situation but will end up feeling even more worried. Try to keep busy and remember that the mass they have found may not be cancer.

Our nurse helpline is now closed for Christmas but if you'd like to chat with them ahead of your appointment, they will be back in the office from 9am on Wednesday 27th December available on 0808 800 4040. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice and support they can.

Do keep in touch Jlouise25 and let us know how you get on with the specialist.

    Best wishes,
