CA125 after Ultrasound

Hi everyone and I hope that you are well :)

I have just had Ultrasounds done on my Pelvis, Bladder etc as I have been having urinary issues and lost a lot of weight over the last 6 months.

In 2018, I was told that I had an ovarian cyst and that it was normal and it has never been checked since.

Today, the chap said that he wasn't sure about it and was going to request urgent bloods for CA125. It is 3cm.

I'm not sure what to think really as everything that I read shows the bloods first and then a scan to follow and I am just trying

to find out the odds of it being normal. He would have known if it was normal, wouldn't he?

Sorry, I'm not stressed as I know Dr Google is never a good idea but I just want to know the reality of the situation really, as the bloods aren't always

a sure fire thing. If the bloods are normal, should I push for it to be removed?

Sorry, I know that there is no way of knowing, just hoping for someone with a similar experience to shed some more on it.

He was very quiet and said he needed to think about what to do, when I tried to ask.

Many thanks :)

  • I think if your bloods come back abnormal they will definitely remove it ,they may even remove it because of the symptoms you have such as weight loss etc ,hopefully you will find out soon enough ,I had weight loss and an elevated ca125 last year but it turned out not to be anything nasty ,let us know how you get on .

  • Thanks Jenny :)

I'm glad to hear that yours turned out to be ok. That must have been terrifying having the elevated blood results.

I've just been through the urgent breast clinic thing as I have a lump. It turned out to be ok but my brain went to all sorts of dark places!

I think that as I worried myself so much about that, that I'm all worried out! Fingers crossed that the wait isn't too long.

Thanks again for your reply :)

  • Hi l had ovarian cysts found during a colonoscopy I had left sided pain, bowel changes and weight loss. The cysts were solid and 5cm and 3cm, the were removed and fortunately benign. I had been through the system as maybe cancer as over 65. I hope you have a similar outcome, l had another colonoscopy last month it was ok but inconclusive so lm waiting for a sigmoidoscopy to exclude inflammation. I am on the routine list so they can’t be concerned

  • I am so glad to hear that yours were benign and good luck with the sigmoidoscopy! I hope you get an appointment soon.

I had a colonscopy last year and I vowed never to trust the words 'may experience discomfort' again, it was awful! I hope yours was better :)

I had my bloods back and they are normal but the results from the scan sound a bit worrisome to me.

My ovary is enlarged to 31cc because of a 4cm complex cyst/mass, they were unable to determine if half of it was solid or else 'organising haemorrhage'. The other half appears cystic with multiple thin septae. no free fluid? Not sure what that means.

They wanted to leave it and have another look in 6 weeks but changed their mind and referred the 2 week thing. He put either

'Haemorrhagic corpus luteal cyst ? Sinister ovarian tumour?' so with that, I am glad to be going in for it to be looked at and HOPEFULLY removed. I was diagnosed with a cyst there in 2018 and have had pain on and off since then so I would really like for it to come out at this point.

The statistics say it is benign but I feel like its a ticking time bomb or else my anxiety feels that way.

Thank you for your reply   x

I'm going to try and put it to the back of my head and enjoy Christmas. I just don't like the feeling of this thing inside me that sounds a bit yuck.

I guess I need to trust the Dr but I read so many stories about people being missed in early diagnosis that it is hard not to worry.

I wish you all the best with your upcoming tests! x
